Light of Doom and Dead Rising (360)

Took an entire 5 days of me having the 360 before I got an error (E74, Hardware Failure). Apparently, this just "happens" sometimes. Yeah, this has "happened" so many times in the past 20 years with all the system's I've had. I had to play the NES and PSX to death (thousand hours for the NES at least, hundreds for the PSX, and that was a 1-series model) before they broke down. I've had my 360 on for a total of about 5 hours in 5 days, mostly to just download demos and trailers from Live Marketplace. I played GRAW for all of an hour and Geometry Wars and Hardwood Backgammon for about an hour each as well. That's all the spinning the DVD drive's done.
This was actually one of my reasons for not wanting to pay a lot for a 360: shoddy hardware. If there's one thing where Nintendo kicks the snot out of the competition, it's in the reliability of hardware. I was playing a 'Cube at my cousin's house and it actually fell 2 feet while we were playing Mario Tennis and the system didn't even skip a beat in the game, not to mention have a hardware failure. We won't even talk about all the issues the Xboxs and Playstations, all iterations, have had since they came out. And Sega wasn't exactly known for rock-solid hardware, although the DC was pretty good.
I know it's happened to basically everyone here. I'm just venting, not expecting sympathy.
I downloaded the demo for Dead Rising. I can really see why this demo's useless. Yeah, you can run around wasting zombies, but it really doesn't do much to explain the cases (objectives) to you. I'm assuming the actual game incorporates these relatively well and gives you a reason and purpose to running around the mall wasting hundreds of zombies, right?

Microsoft products are expected to have problems. The only problem I have ever had with my Dreamcast though is that over time it attracted dust, and it made it look dirty. I have not ever had an issue with any of my Sega systems (I can still play Master System and Genesis without a problem, and I have had both of those from the 80's), and only my NES has given me problems with my Nintendo systems. The later model Sony systems are also very good, the PSX sucked, but the PS1 has never had a problem, the original PS2 also sucked, but the slim PS2 works to perfection.

I ran into so many probs with the Genesis (have 4 unworking ones at home) and Saturn (traded in a few times to get one that works) and the original Sega CD was very fragile. DC was the only one, along with the original TG-16, that didn't give me problems (Turbo Duo and CD were very fragile as well).

I had some problems with my Sega CD, I forgot about that one; but no other Sega product has given me problems like that.
And I am not overly concerned about Xbox 360, there aren't any games that look partcilarly interesting to me on the system. I mean, I could pretend and say that I actually want to play Gears of War, but that game doesn't look very fun to me.

Haha, lucky Zeus.
Dunno what to tell ya, my 360 (launch model) is still going strong - though sometimes I consider just claiming it is defective in order to get a newer replacement.
I've never had any problems with most systems (only my NES after 10+ years, the DC and the original Xbox). Guess it's the luck of the draw.
By the way, I told you, the demo doesn't do the game justice. The full game doesn't exactly have a deep story....but it IS somehow way deeper and more fun than the demo shows (I'm really not sure how to explain it beyond that).
As for Seeker, I'm not all that Hyped about GoW either (or Halo 3)...but since everyone who has played it says it is incredibly fun and polished, I'm willing to give it a try. What I am really looking forward to is Mass Effect...and Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2, the next Quantic game [Hard Rain or Omnikron?], Crackdown and Fable 2. But mostly Mass Effect. For people who like WRPGs, Bioware is Squaresoft - and a system seller.

Kali, what's your Live nickname?
BTW, Ninja Gaiden Sigma is more of a remake of Black than it is a sequel. I don't think they've officially announced a sequel yet, although we all know it's coming.

Yes, Sigma is a remake (with some added stuff, being headed by Itagaki's underling - I forget his name).
Ninja Giaden 2 being in development is pretty much confirmed in that last G4 interview, where when asked what game was next now that DOAXBV was done, Itagaki smirked and said "The game that everyone expects".
Oh, and my Tag is RideTheSnake. Silver until I have a game that really needs online (have a card, no hurry to use it...especially since I can't help but suspect MS might adjust Live - depending on Sony).

Yeah, I expect Live will be free by March or June or so, once the Nintendo and PS3 ones get going. They've been the only ones in the market for a long time and if you have two free competing services, no chance it stays pay IMO
