There is a lot of potential they have with the weather channel. They could link it to news channels as well, and Atlas information with demographics and such. Kind of like the CIA World Factbook. I would, at least, find interest in that. If they take the time to implement a few more things, I wouldn't mind.

Honestly, although Seek is lookin' forward to the Wii Channels, i could care less. They're a toss-in for me. I'm more concerned about the online gaming, downloading Virtual Console games and DS demos, and getting my free browser before June.
What's going to annoy the snot out of me more than anything is the DVD-playback capable Wii that's coming out next year. If we don't get some sort of software update, it'll just be stupid. It's not like I need another player, but it should be there to begin with. They're proving that by releasing a different model to include it later.

It sounds to me like it's not as simple as a software update to allow DVD playback. I thought there was additional hardware involved, but I could be wrong.
I could care less whether they ever include DVD playback. I already have 5 DVD players in my house. Crap, I had 2 when the PS2 came out.

I'm not worried about it either. I prefer to use a standard DVD player for DVDs rather than my videogame systems just because it means less stress on my actual videogame systems. DVD Playback would be a good thing to have included, but it is not something I am missing (There are already like 15 DVD players in this house, including everyones computer and laptops)

What I'm thinking is that the ability is there technically but it's not activated out of the box, which is how they get past paying the DVD forum the money. It's essentially a computer with a video card so why can't they make software? It's certainly powerful enough.
