Mario Party DS, Nintendo NEEDS to make this one

The DS is easily one of the best multiplayer systems ever created. Walking into the student lounge at my university, it is almost guaranteed that you'll find people playing multiplayer on the DS. A few profs own them as well (though almost everyone who owns a DS around here owns a DS Lite, they are much more popular than the original DS). Anyways, there is also the online factor, the system is hugely popular as an online system as well.

When going to the Student Union Student Lounge, people have Metroid, Mario Kart, and a lot of others, but the game that seems to get played the most are New Super Mario Brothers Mini games (Mario Kart is also very popular); Mario Party consists of a lot of those types of games. It would make a lot of sense, in my opinion, for Nintendo to release a DS version of Mario Party, much more sense than it did to release all those Gamecube and N64 ones. I bet they could sell 3 million+ copies of it on DS. They also need more simulation type games along the lines of Animal Crossing and Nintendogs which have combined sold over 16 million units worldwide.

The thing about the DS is that the games on it appeal strongly to adults and are fine for younger audiences to play as well (unlike the typical Mature rated games which totally does not describe the people who actually play them). That's why they are selling so well, in my opinion.

I would purchase a DS Mario Party game without a thought if it allowed for online multiplayer. That would be awesome.

One of my favorite things is for my wife and I to get together with our 2 best friends and have Mario Party parties on the Gamecube. That's why I cannot wait for the first MP game on the Wii. :)

The DS would definitely lend itself to some fun MP mini games with the stylus also. Since most games only last from 15-30 minutes, they would still work well in a handheld environment, imo.

Come on, Nintendo!!!

You could always just get the GBA one in the meantime :-)

Yeah except I really want online play. That would be the deal-sealer for me.

Online lag in the timing games would be brutal.

I did not even realize there was a GBA Mario Party. Though, the DS lends itself to such a wide variety of gameplay possibilities for this type of game.

Though, Nintendo has not announced any Mario Party games for the DS. I wouldn't be surprrised if an announcement is made in January, after the holiday season. There is a good chance it could be announced then because A) January is usually a big month for announcements, and B) Mario Party for the Wii is being released during that month.

About lag, I am sure they can get around it, Hunters is a very good example.

They'd have to implement some kind of solution to account for that situation. I'm sure they could handle it in a way that would make it work though.
