I was thinking more along the lines of a Final Fantasy allstar game that includes characters and factions from all of the Final Fantasy titles.

On the subject of FF.

UNCONFIRMED: Square Enix revealed further details on Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PS3 and Final Fantasy Agitos XIII for mobile phone.

* Final Fantasy XIII:
* The new male character's name is related to weather, but not related to the female lead character Lightning
* The summon beasts are vastly changed, for example Shiva can now transform into a motor bike, and she can use more than one element, not limited to blizzard
* It is possible to transform the summon beasts into other forms like motor bike during the battle
* The crystal will give user the power to invent/compose certain things
* There is a city inside a floating Cocoon, which is formed by the crystal and protected by a machine
* There are some mysterious changes in the crystal, causing the cocoon "awakened", people fear those who live inside the cocoon become invaders and begin to hate them
* To stabilize the cocoon, people performed emergency treatment to it, banished residents inside the cocoon and move them back to the ground
* The Crystal chose Lightning (the female protagonists), give her fate to lead the world. People believed she's an enemy to the human race, she will lead the world into ruin.

* Final Fantasy Versus XIII:
* The gameplay will be similar to the Kingdom Hearts series, with more action elements than the FF series
* The male protagonist is capable of teleporting to where his weapons are thrown.
* He has some sort of limits to his power.
* Originally there was no good or evil, but soon it will be divided between the two, in the last Kingdom where the crystal was held
* The Kingdom is very advanced in technologies, and isolated from the outside world.
* The Kingdom is protected by Magic Order, but a group of invaders from outside began to invade the city for the crystal

* Final Fantasy Agito XIII:
* The game will be in full 3D
* The protagonist is supposed to protect the crystal
* The game will be available on mobile phone by the end of 2007

I read those too, Eric. If those descriptions of FF13 are accurate, it sounds pretty retarded to me. I mean, "It is possible to transform the summon beasts into other forms like motor bike[s] during the battle"? They're turning the summons into some kind of mythic beast/transformer crossbreed?

Still, bring it on y'know. Not like I won't buy it.

It'll be in the lead by the end of 2007 worldwide. I'd be surprised if it wasn't

No man, it's just that the Playstation brand name is far stronger than Nintendo's right now. It's not like Nintendo's going to reel in the Madden or Burnout or even MGS players by having Wii Play released on it. They don't have the games to capture the core Sony market. Look at the PS3 Godfather game vs the Wii one, it's much better. And no GTA4 on the Wii.

The Wii'll make its success as a cheap alternative or as a seconardy system for some, but it won't eat away at Sony's share too much on its own IMO. That's Microshaft's job, a job that just won't get done in the Japanese market. Get some games on the PS3 and drop the price a bit and it'll start to take over IMO. Their name is strong enough to carry them through 'til then (that and the PS2 sales). But what I've always said is that they'll lose a lot of market share but that they'll come out on top in the end. They may end up barely ahead, but ahead nonetheless.

Of course, I hope Nintendo comes out on top as I think it's the best of the bunch, but that's a personal opinion. Above is what I feel will happen on a more objective level. I hope I'm wrong but I'm just giving the most objective opinion I can. Eventually I'll own all the systems so it don't matter THAT much to me.

(it's easy to see through something that isn't there to block your sight :-)

I think I agree with Flip on this one. There is no way Zeus is stupid enough to believe what he is saying right now.

For the record, PS3 sales from Wikipedia (taken from NPD and Famitsu):

United States: 687,300,[4]
as of December 31, 2006.

Japan: 527,462;[5]
as of January 7, 2007.

Sony recently announced to Famitsu that they have shipped 2 million PS3s to North America and 1 million PS3s to Japan. That means there is a very large amount sitting in warehouses and on store shelves.

About brand name power, it has been greatly weakened in recent months here and in Europe; in Japan they have been #2 since summer 2005.

Here's your surprise (from Magicbox):

- Square Enix announced Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition and Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition for PSP, as the first games in the Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary series. Both games will be contain all the new elements in Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls for GBA, plus further enhancements in the graphics and music, as well as new CG movies and some innovations on the levels and contents

For the record, the CG movies and additional levels stuff is what was found in the PSX version.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3156429

Looks like the real enhancement is the graphics and sound.

So I take it that the Anniversary series will just be re-releases of everything they just recently re-released.

For the record, FF2 is an improvement over the original, but it still blows. FF1 Dawn of Souls was inferior to the original version due to the poorly thought out generic item and magic system; the game difficulty was an absolute joke; whereas the original Final Fantasy offered an interesting difficulty level. Luckily, so far, this is the only game in the series to be inferior to the original.

The only time i thought FF1 was hard was when you ran into a random battle against guys who could paralyze lock you or stone all your guys. I thought the bosses were easy and it was easy to level up and buy what you needed.

Speaking of Final Fantasy: someone is playing through FF8 and uploading all relavent sections to youtube. There are 34 parts so far:

The FMV intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmOv7q8GL94

This is part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adTcwv6Cw-4

I suppose follow the side bar from there, or just click on the uploaders name and watch them in order from there. That is, if you want to watch them all and not play the game, and explore the world for yourself =P

Other than the graphical and sound upgrades, that's what it looks like, yes. But we'll get more details later
