I decided to get the Sony brand ones (for PS2 and PS3, it says) over the cheaper but more questionable 3rd party set that works with the PS2, PS1 (WTF?), Xbox, and Xbox360. If the cheaper set had worked with the Gamecube I may have gotten those and RE4 and Twilight Princess look a little muddy on my Samsung LCD.
And damn do they ever make a difference! I've tested them with Bully, FF12 and Suikoden 3 and 5, and all look noticeable sharper on my HDTV. Guitar Hero 2 looks insanely cleaner since it is the only one of the bunch that supports progressive scan.
So it's definitely worth the $25 (at Wal Mart, probably would have been 50 at the nearby Sony Store) for anybody who plays PS2 games on a big HD display.
