I'm going to start playing FFXI again sometime this month, and probably until the summer is over. Any of you guys used to play it/still play it?

Been thinking about restarting my subscription. I'm down to play if you are.

I will probably be starting up at the end of the week, do you have any server preferences? Also, there is a
promotion for recruiting friends where you get fancy items that nerf your level down to your friends level so you can play together if you want to use your fancy high level job. So if you want to play, we should plan properly to get these fancy items.

I have no characters of real merit and would be starting over from scratch, so I need no fancy nerf gear. But feel free to grab some if you want to use it. No server preference here...
Set a time for a gaming session?

I'll be able to tell you after wednesday. I get my one and only final that day it is take-home.
Also, since the game is for the 360 I looked at the
achievements for it... are there any achievements that are NEARLY this difficult to achieve? The amount of hours you must put in to gain any one of them is tremendous. Yowza

I used to be a dragoon. Oracle helped me get a ton of the extra classes, so before that I was a lameylame warrior. I figured.... everyone needs a tank. Only made it up to lvl 30 though.

My paycheck hasn't gotten here yet either, and unfortunately I have a little too much month at the end of my money, as is unfortunately a frequent occurrence with me. I couldn't even renew if I wanted to.
Maybe gimme a week? I'll try to plow ahead and we can hook up next Saturday or something. Pump a character up to level 7 or so and then we'll powerlevel my guy and terrorize the continent.

gotta ask did they add voice to the 360 version?

nope, the keyboard support is looking pretty good for the 360, though. I bought a cheap wireless microsoft keyboard/mouse combo and it works just fine... keeps my 360 wireless. When I bought my 360 I accidentally got a wired controller (didn't even notice until I opened the package.... yarg I'm an idiot) but the good news for that is I've hooked that controller up to the pc so I can play with the controller there too. I've always found pure keyboard controls in FFxi to be terrible, and I was introduced to the game on the PS2, so I'm just used to it.

another dumb question...how would it look non-HD...being poor as hell has me ithout an hdtv or monitor until at least a few months from now....

well, I used to play it on the ol' ps2 on my tube 36" television back when that was my setup, and that's ALL I played it on. My computer (as pathetic as this may sound) couldn't handle ffxi, so I had to get the HDD and the whole shabang for that to work. I played it on standard definition and it looked fine. I'm not sure how it would look on the 360 in SD, but I can imagine that it would be similar. It looked fine to me... with the keyboard I can say it looks like playing it on low resolution with all the effects turn up... makes the game not look as crisp and clean, but it gets the job done.... looks like FFxii kinda.

It's a $130 Cdn upgrade to a $500 Cdn system for something that's built into my $280 Cdn system (that also comes with one game) from another company. It really is gouging to the nth degree

Praise the holy name of Ballmer!
...Yeah, I actually destroyed a chair in my room last week because I was so mad at Microshit. Not really that proud of it, but I'm getting to wish someone would blow them up at this point...
Just BOOOOOOOOM and then little bits of boring-ass, supercilious, full of shit programmers fly everywhere!
(giggles somewhere just slightly south of sane)
