  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

In a nutshell from the previews I've read:

-What it is- This is more or less a game for new players to the series. Though players who are very interested in the story and might not want to go through all the puzzle solving stuff might want this one as well.

-Gameplay- It is not a typical RE-style adventure game, it is rather a light-gun shooter which seems like an ideal choice for the Wii console. Unlike other lightgun shooters, this one is going to be long, it spans over 15 hours in length. They're aiming for a highly cinematic experience, despight being a light-gun shooter, it is not just about shooting.

-Setting- The setting is not a new one, rather it covers Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, and 3 making them into a single game with light gun shooter style gameplay. There will be more added content so it all flows smoothly, and the story will lead up to Resident Evil 4 (also being released, but in classic RE-style gameplay, this is discussed in another thread).

So it looks like it will be quite an interesting game, it is still in its early stages of development though, it is hard to say how it will turn out in the end at this point. Originally it was going to be classic style puzzle solving RE style, but the developers thought this might get to boring given the length of the game. Whether the decision is good or not remains to be seen. It seems that the main purpose of this game is an easily accessible way to deliver the plotline to a new audience. Though it will be different, instead of walking around at your own pace, the pace is dictated by the developer, so it is more like a movie, which could work if done well. I'm looking forward to it, I like Light Gun Shooters and am a bit surprised the Wii doesn't really have any yet with the exception of portions of some games (like Rayman, which is a lot of fun).

A little more on the additional content, about 40-50% of it will be original.
