...is it just me or is anyone else wondering how they even made a sequel to this? I thought the first one hardly sold.

It is also receiving an AO rating in other places. One has to wonder what kind of market they are aiming for with a game like this? There was a big fuss a little while ago (I'm quite sure it was in the UK) about motion controls used to simulate the extreme violent acts.

After reading the concept for the game, this news really doesn't surprise me. I am surprised they are actually releasing the title.

Games like this being released on consoles is like "Bling Bling" being released and called Hip-Hop, you know that it doesn't define the whole genre, but there will be a backlash against everyone because of it.

They're going to have to edit the game now. Nintendo and Sony have said they'll not allow the game's release as an A/O title.

I'm pretty sure no retailer would carry an AO game which means your game might as well not exist.

Yay! Another NC-17 rating! Now the retail and console markets can act just like the movie industry!

That documentary really pissed you off, huh? :-)

Sine, if the descriptions of the game I've read are accurate, it deserves an AO rating. It is clearly for Adults Only.

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have confirmed that they will not allow AO-rated games on their systems:

What do you guys think of that? I can understand imposing certain limitations, like specific inserts and labels, but with companies like Walmart not carrying AO games anyways, should we at least have an option as a consumer? The market will limit the distribution by itself.

We should, but the political climate atm is fucking us over.

I agree with Eric. The console manufacturers are slaves to the current political climate.

I completely support artistic expression and the right of consoles to play mature content, and I also completely understand the position the console manufacturers are in.

To be honest, I think they've been more permissive in recent years than I'd have thought...the lesbian kissing scene in Viewtiful Joe, on the *GameCube* of all systems, still surprises me. I still hold by my theory that there was no outcry only because 95% of gamers gave up before beating that festival of insanity, and the lesbian scene only unlocks after you beat it at least once on Adult mode.

HA! That's a way to sneak it in, make the game so damned hard that only a very, very small percentage of hardcore nerds would even find it :-)

Of course, Take Two got in deep shit over some buried code that required hacking to unlock....

It's not the fact that it's an AO rating. It's the fact that nobody will bother carrying an AO-rated game. Wal-Mart has already banned those type of games, and most everybody is following suit. Hell, we're talking about an entire country banning a game. (If only adults are buying it, what the fuck does it matter?!?)

Compare this with the NC-17 rating in movies, and you can see how "mass outlawing" a rating will only corrupt the ratings board, and force an upper limit with developers' freedom.

The funny thing about games like this is that it's mostly kids who wangt to play them.
