Sold or shipped?

I've learned that you can't believe a word any Sony reps say when they're talking about sold numbers.

Not sure. Can't really find anything other than that article. Seek?

They're going on total hardware sale revenue. There are no console hardware charts for Australia, only ranking charts for software.

The following article shows a point (end of April) where Wii had sold 80K units, PS3 had sold 36K units. Yet a few weeks back Nintendo announced that they had sold 100K+ units and Sony 50K units; there's a bit of simple math to be done.

Sony also said that their console had the best first week sales ever in Australia, but total unit numbers were significantly less than the unit sales of the Wii in its launch back in December. They would have to be going on total revenue.

Below are charts grabbed from GFK, considering the PS3 was launched at the end of March in Australia, it seems likely that the sales were still high during April. Since Wii and PS3 are tied for the quarter, and Xbox 360 is hanging in there with decent sales for the quarter, it seems highly unlikely that PS3's lead survived April. I would guess it was third overall of the three during May and June.
