  • Halo 3: Collector's vs Legendary

Lookin' for an opinion here. I pre-ordered and fully pre-paid for the Collector's Edition for $40 Cdn + tax. I have the opportunity to sell that for $60 cdn and get the Legendary edition for the equivalent of about $72 Cdn plus tax, which would cost me about $15 or so extra. But in doing that, I lose about $100 in trade in credit, or a game and a half.

So, should I upgrade to the Legendary or no?

Is it the same game? Get the basic, duh.

But the special edition comes with a limited edition Master Chief figurine. There are only 1.7 million in existence! *snort*

The Collector's comes with an additional DVD, artbook, and something else in a tin case. The Legendary comes with all that, an extra disc that has all of the cinematics from the first two games re-done in HD, some Red & Blue stuff, and a bunch of other things as well as a replica Master Cheif helmet (looks like it could fit a 6 year-old child) that also acts as a holder for the game and other stuff inside of it. It's pretty neat. There should be a display one at your local EB/Gamestop.

I would definitely pay the extra $10 for the Collector's over the regular and in this case, I'm able to pay an extra $15 or $20 to get the Legendary. Trust me, that's the ONLY reason I'm considering it. I would never have paid the extra $70 but $15 or $20? It's tempting.

I'm just getting the Collector's (that's the mid-level one, right?). I don't really care too much about the helmet, and I'm sure you'll be able to download the extra DVD that comes with it on the day of release (or shortly thereafter).

You guys are all crazy... I used to buy "collector's edition" games but unless getting it will give me more than a boring artbook and behind the scenes junk why bother? At least give me a soundtrack and I'll consider it...

360 games are expensive enough as it is... when I bought any aforementioned CE's I did so for a total of $50 back when normal games were $40. It'll be $60 for starters, I'm picking up the base one and to hell with worthless junk I'll never look at or use.

Don't forget, Tess, I'm a collector. These additional things actually mean something to me as they almost always retain value. I know the Legendary will be readily available which is why I didn't get it to begin with (I pre-ordered the Collector's initially) but considering it's gonna cost me about $22 more (I mis-calculated before) for the Legendary over the Collector's and only about $68+tax Cdn overall, which is cheaper than getting just the base version, I'm seriously starting to consider it. I just don't know if I want to give up some other game in the future for it.

And if you see the helmet and how neat it actually is, you might not balk at paying $15-20 (pre-tax) for it, which is basically what I'm lookin' at.

Granted, I had considered buying the SE 300 that came out because of the Spartan helmet. Then I saw it and the fact that it was like 6" tall. :) So I got the 2 disc edition instead.
