Downloadable videos (that's why your Wii should be glowing when you get home), art, and the original NES and SNES versions of the games on the VC in the next two weeks. Good to start, but they need to do more IMO. I want to see more Metroid swag dammit!

Maybe they'll get off their collective asses and finally reward me properly for the first time since the Zelda Collector's disc for registering my games online. Man, they need something like Club Nintendo here. If I was in Japan I'd have enough points with my 65+ registered games (and every system except for the Micro) to get some real nice Nintendo-branded stuff. Basically I'd have enough to get everything they have. That's awesome for a fan like me.

Just more proof that NoA has zero marketing saavy. Maybe this move to New York and San Fran is a good thing for that department. Might give them the kick in the ass they really need.

I'm sure it'll just be a "Club Nintendo America" and totally exclude us Nintendo loving Canadians. Just like how we're getting fucked with the skydrive beta, the XBL videos (for more complicated reasons), and many other USA specific programs and promotions. They screw us over enough with the inflated prices that do not take into account the exchange rate..... YARG!

On a side note, Metroid 1 does NOT hold up very well. Metroid 2, despight the gameboy graphics, actually plays quite well though (though I don't think there are any plans for Gameboy games on the VC at this time).

Played them both a few years back. I think it's exactly the opposite

M1 is dated. Super Metroid is where it's at.

I didn't play Metroid back in the day, and I just can't go back to a game that primitive now. Thankfully, Nintendo made Zero Mission.

That was an excellent remake. With that you really don't need to go back to the original NES one.

Yeah, it's primitive, but for a NES game, it's held up very well. Platformers in general hold up better than other games IMO. I mean, it's still fun to play SMB

I have found a lot of NES games have held up well, but Metroid 1 is not one of them. It just isn't well thought out. Metroid 2 I found to have much more solid controls and handling, plus the action was overall a lot better.

I just find that Metroid 1 and Kid Icarus (which is a very very similar game) feel very very dated. Though games that came out not long after, like Super Mario Brothers 2, actually still feel quite good to play today.

I find that I just can't go back to NES games. Whenever I try to play 'em, it feels more like an academic exercise than actually having fun. The graphics, controls, music and sound are just too primitive. But the SNES... oh, the SNES. The good games from that generation have aged surprisingly well.

Well, they were so primitive in comparison to even the SNES games. That's why the remakes of those games works so well... *stares at Inafune and Capcom*
