So I'm addicted to 1up's podcasts...

I started listening to 1up Yours a couple of months ago during my morning prep at work and it's excellent. Then came EGM Live which is not as good but has interviews with people in the industry. I've been listening to backlogs of Retronauts podcasts as well, which are also excellent (Shane Bettenhausen is a fucking encylopedia of game knowledge).

But that hasn't been enough. I generally listen to them two or three times through each. I even started listening to Gamespot's podcast, The Hotspot, which is pretty good as well.

Can anybody else reccommend some good game podcasts? And for Bovine: did you see the 1up Yours podcast at PAX?

I've been hooked on 1up Podcasts for a while now.

Have you heard the last Retronauts (survival horror)? Shane's description of Haunting Ground, and the subsequent discussion was hilarious ("They should have just called the game Raped By Flaming Grandpa")

They're all completely awesome, no doubt.

Start listening to GFW Radio! I am not a PC gamer but I'm considering subscribing to the magazine on the strength of the podcast.

I really like 1UP Yours, but I find that I prefer EGM Live now. I find Garnett Lee infuriating a lot of the time, and I really like Crispin Boyer and Bryan Intihar (Bettenhausen is probably my favourite 1UP radio personality, but he's consistently on both shows).

Bettenhausen actually irritates me. Two 1up Yours episodes ago, they had Garnett, John Davidson, Mark MacDonald (who I like better than Luke) and... that other guy. I liked the guy whose name I can't remember better than Shane.

Retronauts is awesome, and it was actually my gateway drug to the rest of the 1up podcasts. But I think it has suffered now that Jeremy Parish is no longer the host and producer. My main problem with Retronauts is that everyone talks over each other too much. It gets frustrating to listen to, because people can't finish thoughts.

I listen to EGM Live sometimes. I was turned off a while ago when they spent five minutes talking about someone's fanny pack.

Make sure you listen to the Retronauts episode about game music. No exaggeration, I've listened to it close to ten times.

He definitely walks a fine line. I like him, though.

Yeah, I really like Mark also. I liked Luke, but he could be completely obnoxious.

This is a problem in all of the 1up podcasts, I find — their casualness definitely works both for and against them.

Luke is a bit like Kali - yeah, he's an asshole, but he's <i>our</i> asshole. Well, at least he was. But Mark MacDonald is actually wittier and more insightful.

Okay, the last PC game I played for more than an hour was probably Starcraft... I don't know what about GFW would appeal to me, but I'll give it a shot.

I like 'em all, but Shane is probably my favorite as well. I dig the way they all rip on him and mock him, but the guy knows his shit (and he's reclaimed the 6.5 for 'good'!).

What's infuriating about Garnett? He keeps the conversations going and makes things more interesting by demanding answers from the other guys (probably for the hell of it).

John's great as well. Glad he's staying with the podcast.

I also like Mark "Terrrrrrrrible" MacDonald dispite his recent shitting upon Street Fighter 3 (I doubt he's played Third Strike).

Jennifer Tsao... eh, I don't dislike her, but I don't find her to be an integral part of EGM Live. The other people on the show drive it. I'd sooner have somebody else host that one. Donahoe and Boyer (did not back down in the Lair interview) and Intihar are all good. I don't play sports games anymore but I'm curious about the Sports Anomoly podcast for the chanting ("Hey Brooksie, you're goin to the game!").

What's Parish doing now? Has he given Retronauts to Sharkey or is Sharkey just filling in for now? All I've seen from Parish lately are the Halo/Marathon retrospectives. As long as we're on Jeremy Parish, I always found a familiarity in that name and it was only when I recently picked up Chrono Cross again that I realised I had once used a FAQ he had written for that game years ago.

Also, I'm totally in love with Jenn Frank.

I've thought of posting on the 1up boards, but that shit's crowded. After posting here for so long I don't feel like wading through thread upon thread to see who's replied to what.

Parish is the Features Editor for 1up, and he just did a huge amount of Halo 3 coverage for both 1up and EGM. Between his normal job responsibilities between 1up and EGM, I can understand why he doesn't have time for the Retronauts podcast, blog, Retro Roundup and whatever else he's started. But he has his own site which contains a lot of his writing: http://www.gamespite.net. I've whored it out here a few times.

Yeah, he's a strong host, but he's just so adamantly dumb sometimes. COMPLAIN ABOUT WARHAWK'S NAME MORE, GARNETT arrrgh

Yeah, John's probably the only adult on the podcast, haha.

Yeah, no doubt. There are a couple of boards that I like reading (<a href="http://www.neogaf.com/">NeoGAF</a>, for example) but could never imagine really contributing to. They're just too huge.

Why? I'm listening to it, and it's okay, but it's not really hilarious or anything. Plus, it's 30 minutes long.

Why listen to that when you could be listening to this totally accurate and awesome review of Bioshock?

I don't like the episode because it's funny. I like it because I find much of what they say insightful, and I like hearing the music.

I do remember you leaving a comment on one of Milky's blog posts, but I don't remember which one it was. Knowing him it was Virtua Fighter or something so extremely Japanese I didn't bother to read past the first paragraph.

Been listening to Retronauts non-stop for the last few days and the one about game preservation is probably my favorite now. The one on game music was good too, and it was nice to hear them mention Suikoden 2.

I've never listened to the 1up podcasts (but will do so now as I am doing homework and need something to keep my mind from asploding), but I find the Destructoid retro podcast entitled Retroforce Go! to be quite entertaining. Here is a link for you to try them out

I've heard of it before. I'll give it a go.
