apparently there is a little burger king promotion going on where the burger king is giving americans (or anyone in the world who knows an american zip code) 48 hours of free live of the golden degree. Anyone on this board who wants the hours or know someone who could use them.... here's a link to set you up.

Poontang!
Wait, no, no.
Clitoral hood!
I'm still not serious, apparently.
"I will not be taking part in the Burger King promotion because Halo is generic and unenjoyable to me, though I am glad others enjoy it. Best wishes to you all!"
There we go!

My Gold account just recently expired, but really I don't see anything missing from the Silver account. What is in the Gold account anyway?

gold just means multiplayer, with silver you cannot play against others. Also, to nev: it's not all about halo, you can play other games too (is it still cool to say that halo is terrible? I can't keep up with these fads anymore)

Like Bovine said, just online play and some specific stuff for DLC, like the Halo theme coming out today and timed released on other things (Gold gets them first). I'm hoping with the PSN they'll finally be forced to make it free 'cause it's just irritating otherwise. I had it for free for over 2 years and I only played online for a short time when Gears came out. It's just not worth the $8 a month IMO

I just don't understand the appeal. It's soooooo generic. At least Unreal Tournament Whateverthefuck has gore and twitchy gameplay.

You're in the minority unfortunately... am I the only one who paid $40 for 13 months? Most people aren't minding having to pay for it... which sucks because it *should* be free but that's not going to happen. Microsoft must make a shit-ton off of Live membership fees and they won't stop that yet-- especially when any major hyped PS3 game that's come out so far was a disappointment.

How's it feel to be the only gamer with an Xbox that doesn't "understand" Halo? I don't see how you can call it generic because I've played more than my fair share of FPS's (recently: Crysis, Quake: ET, CS:Source, Gears of War, etc) and Halo has a remarkably different feel and attitude about it than any others. The gameplay alone is very different. But then again... should I be surprised that someone who can't even be bothered to send their broken system in for repairs would say this? You have to rationalize it somehow or else you'd despair about how the rest of the world gets to enjoy in something you can't cause you're too lazy or something

Very good, thank you. I see no reason to play a game I don't enjoy just because everyone else does!
And you're right, I've never sit down and given Halo a "real" shot. Why? For the same reason that I don't give thousands of other games a "real" shot. I try them for half an hour, or play with friends (which I've done with Halo), and decide I don't like them and would rather play something else!
I am not going to play Halo because everyone else thinks it's cool. Sorry! And I'll send in my 360 when I feel like it or not at all, by the way, so keep the word "lazy" out of your mouth. Or is it your 360 and not mine all of a sudden?
Personally, I don't even really like FPS gameplay, but I'll go play something I like if I'm going to. The only thing that makes me despair is that I can't get a good game of anything else going at my local game store because everyone is playing Halo! But that's my problem, so to speak, and I'll deal with it.
By the way, not that I put a lot of stock in what others say - but you do, so you can know that Matt Boyd just posted something at Three Panel Soul (the successor to Mac Hall) about how "weird" Halo 3 is as a gaming experience because it "evokes no emotions at all". I don't care, but you apparently decide how cool something is based on how many people like it or dislike it, so you can think about that one for awhile.
EDIT: I swear to God, Tess, I must have stuck a bug up your ass somehow back when I dissed you a few weeks ago. It seems like every other post you write in threads I'm involved in is calling me out in some way or another. I didn't say a damn word to you here and don't particularly enjoy wasting my time arguing with you, so how can we resolve this to the point where you're not gunning for me anymore? I really think I must have damaged your self-esteem somehow, so tell me how we can patch this up so we're not sniping at each other anymore.

I know, which is why i said "I'm hoping".
At the end of the day, I'll want to play occasionally only. If they had the 2-month trial memberships or if I could get the Burger King promotion for a 48-hour thing to work I'd use it a few times a year, but for me it's just not worth it. There are, however, enough people that will pay for it and use it enough to justify the cost and until the PSN provides real competition for free, it'll remain that way.
Not a huge hassle for me so it's not like it's a huge issue. But it would be nice to have the option without paying for it. I don't agree with paying for a game then paying to play it online unless they're providing me with something extra worth the additional monthly fee (online play is not enough on its own and it's free on every other gaming platform). I think it's goosing the customer after they've already paid, in some cases, $130 for your game.

Halo is a relatively generic FPS in single-player, just a relatively solid generic one. If you're not an FPS fan (I'm not very much of one even though I like this series) it just feels like another FPS game, which isn't exactly appealing to a non-fan.

You specifically said "in single player" which leads me to believe you know as well as everyone else it's the multiplayer that makes the game shine. Although I will say the 4 player coop campaign is amazing and I hope more games make it available in the future.

I don't really play multi-player FPSs so single player is all I really care for. So the part that makes the game "shine" don't mean jack to me. I enjoyed the other Halo games and their campaign modes which is why I wanted to get this one. The part I care about, aside from the online co-op which I really can't take advantage of anymore anyways, is pretty generic, albiet a very good generic.
Yes, I do love the online co-op, it's awesome. I loved it in Gears and Rainbow Six and I love it in Halo. And I do think it's great that you can do 4 player in Halo 3 as well.

Uhhh, he's not the only one. I'm not buying the game because nobody can tell me WHY it isn't generic. Why the appeal? Why is it good? Why can't you tell me why? What is this different feel and attitude? I can analyze and tell you why other games are good, so why the fuck can't anybody tell me why the fucking game is good?!
Jesus, I'm among a bunch of gamers, and they can't fucking analyze a fucking game!
