Also it was delayed to January 29th in Japan. Two month delay, I am not sure the reason but I would speculate that it was possibly some sort of marketing decision as now the three big Nintendo titles are fairly evenly spaced starting with Galaxy in 1 month, Brawl in 4 months, and Kart in 7 months. It was recently announced that Mario Kart Wii will have bikes, and also 12 player online multiplayer.

I'm cool with the delay. Gives me more time with Rock Band. Or I can actually get Orange Box or Mario Galaxy.

I find it a bit disapointing, but then I think about how long it will take me to get through Galaxy and Radiant Dawn (at least those two).

There was seriously a glut of quality software. As much as I wanna pwn ya'll in Smash Bros (let the trash talking begin now :-) I can't even keep up with what's coming out already for Xmas. Better to have a quality spring release when there's gonna be nothing anyways.

Besides, Nintendo probably figures Galaxy is gonna be destroying everything and they won't be able to keep up with demand as it is. They might actually be ramping up production for the Wii by the time they release Smash Bros. Mario Kart is also coming around that time. It's also a good move from a business point of view too IMO

Yeah, this year there are lots of games coming out, even PS2 has a number of worthy titles coming out this season. If you utilize the downloadable market, then probably much more than set. I am already well behind on game playing, personally.

There is the whole "we're trying to get more third-party characters" excuse, but I ain't buying that. Business decision IMO.

It's not like the fans of the game (like us) ain't gonna buy it in February 'cause we're pissed off. And other than Mario Kart (this one I say is pushed to May or something), what else big does the Wii have for next year? Like the 360, they're were in serious danger of using up all their big franchises in one Xmas season

They could have had Sonic in it a year ago, it was up to them when to release that detail to the public. What does the Wii have for next year? Well, we don't have a whole lot of information, now Smash fills the winter gap. There are more games being announced. The Xenosaga developer Monolithsoft announced a DS RPG, I think they'll have something for the Wii next fall/winter since they have been quiet since Xenosaga Episode 3 was released and Day of Crisis was announced.
