Ramza is years younger than Vaan.

Has Ramza's age been officially confirmed? I'd consider him to be about the same age as Vaan when he was a squire, and at least a couple of years older by the end of the game.

Ramza was 14 and Vaan 17.

What's your source on this? I can't find any consensus on his age online, and there's been no mention of it in the new translation so far.

That's weird that they took profiles out of the PSP version, but in the PSX version every character in the game has a profile and it will display their ages along with other information. This is a fairly usual thing in early Matsuno games.

I could have sworn that he was 14 and Delita 15, perhaps it was 16 and 17 I'll have to check some time. Though BL is right, time does move based on the player, he could be 99 at the end of the game.

Some of the time passage depends on how much you've traveled around, since it takes one day to travel to one unit of the map. I think at least 3 years pass between chapter 1 and chapter 4, but longer if you spend more time moving around. There's a 1 year gap between chapter 1 and 2, and quite a few month gap between 2/3 and 3/4, plus the mandatory traveling times.

So while Ramza and Delita are pretty young, the age varies quite a bit for everyone else. At the end of chapter 4 they'd pretty close to 20 already. Ramza and Delita also mature very quickly, especially Delita. Ramza may be idealistic but he's not naive, unlike most games that star a character of his age. For example he is well aware of the political pressures from the Galbaldoes Church which is why he faked his death at the end.
