Basically, it's a virtual crayon box with colouring books.....and IGN loved it

Neat idea IMO. Not my cup of tea but I can see the appeal and appreciate the different take on a "game"

"The drawback to having a coloring book in video game form is that, when you've finished your latest masterpiece, there's no way to put it up on the kitchen refrigerator with a magnet. No way to print your work, or, more reservedly, no way to save your creations to cartridge memory. Crayola Treasure Adventures lets you play as a pint-sized Picasso, but your paintings are always lost and gone for good if you power off the game, or even if you just choose to return to the main menu to select a different page to draw on."
Wow, who dropped the ball on this one? Another DS gimmick game you'll get bored of in 3 days...

I know, it sounds stupid and really isn't a game, so for us gamers, it's not just unappealing, it's something to be ridiculed. But from a software point of view, it's a very neat idea for something like the DS and actually fits the system very, very well.

Sorry, it was the IGN part I laughed at. Not a big fan, y'see.
I'm sure the game could be fun for the target audience.

And no one here is the target audience, so...

This sounds like a less creative electroplankton.
P.S. I love electroplankton.

I figured no one here would be the audience, I was pointing out the different type of software coming for the system, even if it something we'd laugh at. I'm a big proponent of expanding gaming beyond the current genres even if that means that it fails more than it succeeds.
Electroplankton was a pretty fun showcase "game". Something like that screams for a task or some sort of level system built in on top of the awesome freeplay mode. That's great and all but you do need a reason to keep going back to it. Jam Sessions I haven't tried, but I hope it has SOMETHING.
