20GB/60GB PS3s disappearing.

Gamestop/EB had the 20GB one up for $379 a few weeks ago, they've all but disappeared.

Today Amazon's 60GB models disappeared, like hours after I made my order, used ones still going for $440 or so, but soon these will be pretty rare and probably cost more then the 40GB & 80GB systems that have no backwards compatibility.

Might be your last chance if you've been holding out. :P

There was no 20GB/60GB versions. There is only the 40GB/80GB versions. There was never backwards compatibility. That was only a rumor.

Forget what you were told. Go back to sleep.

I don't see Hypnotoad in this message Sine. For shame.

Sony never claimed rumble was a stupid gimmick of the past... and PS3's have been flying off the shelves since it was released! Do not question Sony!

All glory to the hypnotoad.

Well that's what I'm saying, the used 20GB/60GB systems are going for more then the new 40GB($400) ones and even the 80GB($500) because they have the backwards compatibility.

They'll adjust with the price cuts. Backwards compatibility won't have much to do with it IMO. The 20GB will end up being less than the 40GB used while the 60GB will be more but less than th 80GB used. The HD space is the only real difference to a lot of people.

I call bullshit on that one. I may not have gotten a 60GB on time, but I'll be damned if I get one that isn't BC.

It's been known for a while that Sony is discontinuing the 80GB model. There hasn't been any restock on those in quite a while.

As far as Sony is concerned, anything but the 40GB model is dead. All those extra features are unnecessary. Personally, I'm just waiting for enough of a price drop so I can get a used 60GB for $200 or less.

EDIT: more evidence of the 80GB going the way of the Derith's hetrosexuality
