XBLA: Gold members get one week exclusivity on EVERYTHING
PostPosted:Wed Dec 05, 2007 1:24 pm

Looks like all that stuff that's available (demos, Bioshock DLC, etc.) right now only to Gold members is gonna be a disease which spreads to EVERYTHING
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/839/839654p1.html
Fuck them. This is FREE stuff, all they're doing is delaying it for Silver members as a punishment for not getting Gold. Especially for something like DLC on Bioshock or even fucking demos for crying out loud.
Now I want the PSN to come in and absolutely Ish them until no sound comes out when they fart.

Why don't you just get your cousin, who mustered up free games for you, to get you a gold card?

1) They can't do that. The phone bitches don't have access to such things anymore
2) She don't work there anymore. That's why I lost my Gold to begin with

Yeah but his wife's not going to be complaining when they're 60, living in a solid gold house with a rocket car.

No no, we've been through this, its not the money but against his principles as a gamer to pay for online gaming.

To a degree, yes, I've never shied away from that. But I also will pay for what I want as long as I deem it worth the money and whether or not I should.
Flip has it right, it's the principle of the matter. That, coupled with the fact that I don't really use the benefit of Gold (ie. to play online) enough to warrant the purchase. And it won't kill me to wait a week for stuff, I just find it ridiculous that all Silver members (the majority of the members) should.

Frankly, you silvers have been pampered way too long.

This one requires more elaboration. What SHOULDN'T Silver's get?
Keep in mind, there is no requirement for payment to play online or access anything on the Wii or PS3. My comparisons will always be with those two. Sure they're not quite as robust as XBL but they offer similar services for free nonetheless

wait a sec... I thought this was ALWAYS the case... that stuff came out for golds before silvers. I'm judging by Zeus's outcry and IGN's linked post this wasn't the case?

This is Microsoft trying to justify the cost of pillaging $50/yr out of people. The shit should be free, and maintenance of XBL should be part of the cost of the console. (Hell, when even themes cost $2-3, there's no point in putting in the extra $50/yr for online gaming.) Really, this is Sony's fault for having a shitty online strategy on their system, and not generating a good enough competition to warrant changes in pricing models.
Never mind that the cost doesn't apply on a per-console basis, but only to one profile on the console. If you want somebody else on your console to play a multiplayer game, you have to switch to the one account with XBLG access, thus denying any potential achievements, ratings, etc.

50 bucks isn't really that much, I spent 50 bucks on supper last weekend.

I'll agree with this. Sony needs to deliver a more compelling online service than they do. As it is, Live is so good that I don't mind paying for it.

I agree, but I also agree with Sine that if I'm paying a subscription fee for a service most everything on that service SHOULD be free! I mean for crying out loud AT LEAST give us the themes and icon packs... fucking nickel and diming. The DC for games should be included in the price as well-- the rest of the marketplace still should be cost cause it's really not part of the core purpose of the service-- to let me play games online.
They do it because they can... and as Sine said until Sony or Nintendo can come up with something that comes close to XBL we're stuck just like we are with oil prices.

Never. Any lag I've ever experienced was my own fault (once left an anime BT download on) and I've played about 150 games. Chris, Lotus, and Bovine can attest to the same I'm sure.

yeah, it runs pretty smooth 99% of the time. When new games hit and everyone plays them (COD4) there is sometimes a little bit of a wait to get in matches, but never in the match itself. Anything lag can be attributed to Tessian downloading porn, obviously.

then you keep hearing from people with shitty connections. I used to lay on the aussie servers with andrews girlfriend all the time with only a miniscule amount of lag

If you did actually hear this and are not just trolling, then you heard wrong. Halo's netcode handles varying latencies brilliantly.

Seek, Live is by far the best thing we've seen for online.....so far. Nintendo will never catch them 'cause they're not dedicated enough (although online Smash Bros and Mario Kart will rule all of our lives and everyone here knows it). So really, the only chance we have of Microsoft NOT fleecing us is for the PSN to take off. Maybe then they'll give us for free what we should be getting free anyways rather than fleecing consumer 'cause they can. They need real competition first.
Why the fuck do you think they still charge for Winblows?

Good luck, man. A little bit of advice: keep the perv thing to a minimum during the interview process, it's just one of those things :-)
