  • Mixed reviews on NiGHTS 2, here's why

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

IGN scored it 6.5
Famitsu scored it 29/40 (72.5)
Gamespot scored it 7.5
Game Rankings has it averaging above 7.5 at the moment, with the lowest score being 6.5 and the highest being 9.0.

Though the scores seem to be low due to the motion control style not being as good as the classic control style and the poor platformer sequences when playing the kids. So generally, if these aspects aren't important to you then you'll like the game. Also, if you were a fan of the first NiGHTs game than this one is a must have title. The game is reported as being quite fun and highly replayable as well:

The Good
Smooth, satisfying flight-based gameplay; Some clever level designs mix things up; Beautiful artistic design and superb musical score; Fun, interesting boss encounters.

The Bad
Second-rate on-foot platforming sequences; Some levels are on the mediocre side; Motion controls not implemented very well.

-Gamespot

I don't have the game yet, but I do plan to get it because the stuff that it is praised on is what I am looking for in this game, whereas the stuff that it is hit for is not so important. So this is one of those games that you have to read the review on.

Meh, I never did get into Nights on the Saturn. I always felt the analog stick was wasted on a game that wasn't really 3D anyway. Still, I hope you enjoy it. Seems like those who liked the original dig this in the same way.

I like the story of the game, from they way I've heard it anyway: you play as one of two kids who think their parents don't love them because they're either going through a divorce or workaholics.

And I don't think 7.5 is a "low" score for a game like this. 7.5 is a GOOD score... IGN told me so.

You're priceless, Seek.
There's no problem with what I said unless you take it completely out of context as you have. If you liked the first game, you will like the second game based on what is written about it. It's like Phoenix Wright, if you liked the first game, you'll like the others, and I could tell anyone that long before playing the next two.

That's not out-of-context. That's accurate in saying that "If the reviews are giving it fairly low scores, and you're saying that it's a great game, but you haven't play it, then your opinion is probably pure bullshit."

Totally wrong, the game is similar to the first in a way that Phoenix Wright 3 is similar to the first. Phoenix Wright 3 received lower review scores and I could tell you long before based on what is written about it that Phoenix Wright fans would find it to be awesome.
