When I got my Xbox in January I bought the 13 month card that was on sale at the time with Circuit City... it expires next month obviously then, does anyone know of a store/site that sells them at a decent price?

Just do what I do. Go to EB and while the guys aren't lookin' (my bud just let's me do it anyways) sift through all of the Forza 2's. Inside some of the boxes will be the 48 hour cards, not everyone uses them. YOu can use that to subsidize your online playin' 'til you find a deal

No offense Zeus, but I was looking for another 12 month card... I'm not going to enter in 48 hour passes for the rest of my life.

Wait. Dude. This is really theft. And not Chris' pansy-ass infringement of intellectual property. This is really theft.

You are a grown man! Pay for fucking Live already!

I ask the managers before I take, it's not theft if they give it to you. That's like saying the free T-shirts or artbooks that they have left over and are given to me is theft.

It's theft only if you take something of value without the consent of the owner/manager. These have no actual value (they're free inclusions in a game that someone decided was useless) and even if they did, I have complete consent to take them.

Give me a little more credit than that. I may have my stances on certain things, but I don't resort to theft. You know how many times I've gone back to these same stores and told them they've undercharged me?

Regardless, after our halo sessions, it would be nice to play with you on Live more.

Okay okay, sorry dude, but you did recommend digging for these Live cards "while the guys aren't lookin'". That suggests illicit behaviour. And I don't know what madness your hatred of Live's being a paid service might drive you to do!

So you don't steal, but you were recommending that I do? Thanks a million buddy ;)

I have three more of those cards plus a one month card. The real reason I haven't gone back on is 'cause I've been quite busy with work during the week which makes me a lazy fuck on weekends.

But I do want to play some more. I'm gone next weekend ice fishing but if you guys want, maybe the weekend after we can do some sessions? I also want to play some Carcassone ranked and player matches if anyone's interested. You can only beat the CPU on expert so many times....

Well, sort of. You CAN buy a game and just put a bunch of cards in there. That way it's not really stealing, you're just moving the perq from one game to another :-)

Actually, when I played with you guys last month, a couple of the cards I used had the codes already revealed but they still worked for me. I'm curious if rather than a one-time use through a database on the network they're actually are only one-time linked to the account. There may be the possibility where even if I use the card I can give you the code and you can try it too. When I use the next one I'll give you the code if you'd like.

A lot of things, like screwing Microshaft every chance I get by using up as many 48 cards as I can (they build in the "cost" with a usage percentage; it's my goal to make that usage percentage as high as I can :-) and screwing them in every legal way I can, but theft I just don't do. Did it once (yes, only once) as a kid and never again.

I am a scam artist though. Any deals I can get through using company policies, moving inventory from one store to another, combining deals from different stores, etc., I do, particularly if it screws the big boys who prey on the ignorance of consumers.

HAHAHAHAHAHA oh man... Zeus, you are too cute. You think your petty, insignificant, and borderline illegal activities have ANY affect on Microsoft? Believe me it does not. You're costing yourself MORE money over time going through all this crap than what you think you're saving.

But you keep on sticking it to "the man" Zeus... I'll be over here laughing at your delusions while I play COD4 online.

I completely agree. Time is money, effort has a cost, gas, driving, etc... Those 48 hour cards dont look worth it to me.

Also, i love where you draw your line. Theft is bad, but scams are not. Its so ridiculous, i dont even know where to begin to tear it apart. Plus, i'm not one to rip into another's moral fiber since i just recently DL'ed the death note live action movie, but i know what i am doing is wrong, what bothers me is that you think you are doing things legally and by the book. Face it Zeus, stealing or not, your just as criminal. Its all good, we all are, but dont delude yourself.

I know they don't, but that don't mean I shouldn't do whatever I can. Doin' nothin' at all is worse than just sitting there and taking it up the ass while asking for more. That attitude is how we got ourselves into the current messes we have in our respective governments and is exactly what politicians and businesses alike use to do whatever they want.

So go ahead, do nothing like 99% of the people out there. Even if it ends up meaning absolutely zero at least I can give myself the delusion that I try to not be a bitch

A scam is not theft, there's a difference. A scam is where you take advantage of the deals and policies in place to benefit yourself beyond the intention of those putting those deals and policies in place. Just because that's not how they intended the deal or policy to work doesn't mean that you're stealing from them. Theft is walking into a place and taking something that doesn't belong to you. Big difference.

I never said d'loading was legal, I just didn't find a problem with it if I wasn't gonna consume that product anyways. They're not gonna get my money anyways so there's no loss to them. I still buy tons of DVDs and go to movies in the theatre all the time and watch TV shows that I like if I'm here when they're on. Heck, d'loading TV shows is really no different than TiVO if you skip the ads. That one I agree is very, very borderline, but I don't have a problem with it. That's my borderline justification and I'm OK with that.

But the rest of this that we've been talking about in this thread? It's more of a stretch to call it theft than to say it's fine.
