I aim to get a new 360 Game next month, but I don't know which I should get...

I can't get on Live, not yet at least, so is COD4 worth it without getting online?

Which of those three would be the best deal for sinle player/splitscreen?

Mass Effect would be the most bang for your buck if you're not gonna be getting online.

Did you like KOTOR? If yes, buy Mass Effect. If you've never played it buy KOTOR. If no, then how many controllers do you have? If you answer 2 or more, buy Halo 3, if you have one or less, buy COD4 for it's (IMHO) terrible, terrible, terrible singleplayer that has about 2 cool parts. They should just call the singleplayer: the tutorial on how to run away from grenades with a terribly derivative story.

If you like Bioware's RPGs, get Mass Effect. You can go through it multiple times. Otherwise, i think Gears is a great single player and co-op game

Bioshock. Period.

I already have and have beaten Bioshock and Gears.

I'm leaning towards Halo 3, as I have quite a lot of RPGs already...

COD4 is not worth it if you're not going to be playing online.

I'd probably go for Halo if you're not aching for an RPG.

I guess you've played the Orange Box, too? I would probably pick Mass Effect out of that list, but I'm not a big fan of Halo, soooo....

Also, if you can find some good used copies of Crackdown and Burnout: Revenge, go get those. I played the demo for Burnout: Paradise, and frankly I preferred the load times of Revenge than driving all the way out to the starting point again just to retry something in Paradise.

Don't forget: DMC4 is due out in a week or two.

Crackdown, definitely, but I found Revenge a bit disappointing.

I completely forgot about The Orange Box. If you haven't played it yet, Rent, and particularly if you haven't palyed Half Life 2 yet (I hadn't!) — get it. It's rad.

Disappointing as opposed to what? Burnout is still the best arcade racer out there.

Yeah, I hadn't played HF2 at all, so it was a great value for me.

Half-Fortress 2?

Is anybody still playing TF2 on XBL? I heard it had a pretty big drop-off.

I have got the Orange Box. Portal is a work of art, hands down, no contest.

I'll probably pick up Halo 3 then. My birthday is in March, so I can get Mass Effect then or something else. Since I intend to try and get a job this month, I should have more gaming money soon, which will let me nab Lost Odyssey--IF it gets good reviews. Frankly, from what I've heard and seen, it is ALSO very generic, which means I may have to wait for Infinite Discovery to get a truly epic RPG for the 360 (Though I also REALLY want to get Eternal Sonata.)

Plus, I just got Dragon Quest VIII again--original copy got lost, along with BOTH of my Digital Devil Saga games--and I'm about to beat Persona 3 and get back started on .hack, so I have no REAL need to get an RPG anytime soon.

That bumps DMC4 up alright. Is it really coming out in February? I thought it was shipping in the summer...

Whatever it's called, it's still a good game.

You know how Zero Punctuation said Halo 3 was average?

Well, Yahtzee was being KIND to this stupid game.

Here's my pissed off review of the game:

so you're mad because: legendary is too hard, no more elites, brute AI is weak, melodramatic story and bad dialogue, it's short and there's not enough flood?

Sorry kid, but you're wrong.

Ahhh teenage angst. At least ZP admitted he knew the MP was a large portion of the game and didn't want to bother with it... you just ignored it entirely. "I only played 30% of the game and I feel ripped off!" So you over analyzed the single player game and complained you're too much of a loser to have any friends help you play on legendary, which in of itself is an awesome experience. Get some friends and play co-op and multiplayer-- then you can talk about the game.

Do you buy porno mags just for the articles too, and tear out all those icky pictures?

But I have PLAYED Co-op and Multiplayer. Not all the way through, though--I have to beat the game on co-op first--but Deathmatch here isn't much different from a deathmatch on Halo 2, just with a few more weapons.

I dunno. I may be griping a little bit, but I shouldn't have to--this is Halo *3*. It should be the biggest and best of the trilogy, and instead it is the shortest and most overwrought entry of the bunch.

I actually liked the ending of the trilogy in the Campaign. HUGE improvement over the disappointment of the second game's unfinished feel.

Legendary and even Insane are ridiculous on your own, but when Bovine and I were playing through a few levels of Legendary Co-op on our own, I found it rather easy. As long as you have someone else to take away the AIs focus and you're not just running blindly into the middle of the firefight, it wasn't too bad. Multi I could care less about

I also do think that as a Campaign mode it was the best of the three.
