I'm unimpressed

I'd prefer to wait until after reviews and hype are in check... but with the media blitz of this game I doubt it won't live up to its hype to most. I might as well pre-order it at this point...

I've already got mine preordered. Everything I've seen in reviews and the OXM (granted, it's OXM after all) makes me think that if it's even 1/2 as good, it'll be awesome.

Glad I pre-ordered mine last week... 2 days left! We will HAVE to have a GTA4 night with everyone here; can't wait to blow you fucks up

IGN's review gave it a 10, I watched the video review and NOW I'm stoked. Maybe I should pause my LOTRO subscription next month

I just watched the review... fuck! Weeks ago I could barely care about this game but apparently that was because I hadn't bothered to read up on it (which in retrospect was a good idea... didn't know what I was missing until only a few days before it comes out). Now knowing what it offers as a finished product has be counting down the hours until I get home from work Tuesday and find it at my door... maybe I should take a vacation day Wednesday

The multiplayer alone is blowing me away and it's barely even mentioned in these reviews. They rave about it being awesome and having many game modes, but that's it. I never knew, let alone expected GTA4 to have multiplayer. We WILL need to get some hardcore Shriner night goin where Me, Black, Bovine, Sine & Ser, Andrew, and whoever else is getting this for Xbox just go crazy in Liberty City

Jesus Christ, some of those accents are thick! I had to turn on the subtitles after half an hour of Niko, Vlad, and Roman, and I was glad they were on when the Jamaican arrived. Bombaclat!

GTA IV online is down

If you are a proud owner of Grand Theft Auto IV on the PS3, then you might not be so proud to know that the online multi-player mode is down. Or, at least it appears to be so for PS3 patrons. Numerous players have received errors upon attempting to connect; this blogger included has not been able to get the multi-player to work. An error message pops up: "Cannot connect to game provider, please try again." Hopefully, Rockstar can get things running soon. Wouldn't want to upset the GTA IV crowd, if you know what we mean. In the meantime, get back to the single player game. We'll keep you posted as we find out more.

Oh and the game isn't even in 720p on the PS3, more like 640p. WTF??

I have the game sitting here next to me... I've managed to sum up enough willpower to force myself to eat dinner before I pop it in though

The camera! It's not so great. I wish there was a way to fix it behind the car, as well — I don't like that it takes a few seconds to catch up with the back of the car as it rounds a turn.

Niko is a bit of a tank to control at times. I had to do repeated turns and half-turns to get up some ladders in tight spaces.

I don't know if I've been conditioned by the glorious smoothness of COD4, but GTA's frame rate feels a bit stuttery.

agreed. I don't like the 3rd person camera for when niko is on foot. If I pull it over to the left, it then goes back a little to the right, so I can never put it where I want it. I'd also like the camera on the car to be a little higher, but when I set it higher, it just auto-drags it down to where the default it. I jumped into the "party lobby" all by myself to see what it was like..... it's just the city without cops. You can create the craziest mayhem without any consequences. I hope you guys are up for multiplayer soon.

When I was in the lobby and just mindlessly shooting civilians.... I felt kind of bad. It felt really weird to see these people getting gunned down and then struggling to get up and run away. The old games and their more unrealistic graphics made the situation much less believable.

Haha, yeah, the increased realism makes me a little uncomfortable also. I remember thinking, "Hot damn, that's awesome!" when I was able to shoot a dude through his car's windshield in GTA:SA, but I did that in IV and the guy just slumped forward onto his horn and I felt terrible.

That said, last night Fea realistically pushed a dude down some stairs while she was sprinting away from her first date, and it was hilarious.

easily the best bowling, pool, and dart game available on an system.....if only they had table tennis too. also....cabaret made me giggle...

I haven't tried darts or pool, but bowling sucked.

Does anyone have ANY idea how to do either a) private games, or b) co-op games? We played quite a bit tonight (Me, Seraph, Bovine) but it was all either competitive games or sitting in the lobby blowing each other up, haha


PS-- Chris is a douchebag for not replying to our invites, and Black is a douchebag for logging off before we could send out invites

I had a ton of fun. Every second sentence that I uttered must have been "this has all gone terribly wrong". I had fun just in the lobby, but those matches we got in were amazingly fun.

sorry I was distracted by listening to the sharks game and for some reason it wouldn't let me reply or send any messages while the connection was being sucked up....fucking sharks....I'm up for it now

I had to supervise pre-nuptual union between man and woman tonight. I think through game of pool they came to agreement. Though, there was horny gay Native made difficult everything, but managed to fool him by making chase after local emo child. (true story)
