For the anniversary of the release of the game on the GBA, the guys doin' the translation have actually given an estimate on expected completion

So, maybe by the end of the summer? I assume it's not a linear thing on a lot of that stuff, so 4-5 months roughly. I can't wait

Kinda on topic: fans of Earthbound will probably enjoy this nostalgia themed writeup of the first one: http://www.gamespite.net/toastywiki/ind ... EarthBound

That was a pretty neat review. I actually know about 5 people up here who played it, I didn't realize it was THAT big of a failure in the US.

I was actually in my second year of university when it came out (fuck I'm old) and was out of the Nintendo Power phase, so I actually didn't get it until after FF3. Until this article, I actually didn't even know it came out before it.

I do agree with much of what he said. About halfway through the game I realized that the game was a lot different than what it appeared to be. It was still a bit wacky with a lot of silly humour in it, but looking past that facade, there was a deeper storyline and gameplay than it looked like. I think that's why I remember so fondly, it was a game I bought 'cause it looked neat (and came with a guide and I got it used for a great price back then :-) and it ended up being, to me, as good as FF2/4j at the time, and I loved that game. Nothing had touched FF2 until FF3 came out, but Earthbound was about as good.

It still stands as a very unique game and one of my fav SNES RPGs. I can't wait for them to finish the translation on the sequel.

I rank Earthbound #2 or 3 on SNES: #1 being Terranigma, and I am undecided as to whether I like Earthbound or Chrono Trigger more; actually, those top three are fairly interchangeable. Final Fantasy III comes in 4th; but all are amazing games.
