Actually Lox it's $3/month-- it's a 12 + 1 month card.

That just makes it an even BETTER deal. Too bad I'm good until March '09

By george, you're right. I didn't notice the extra month. I know I'm not going to find a better deal, so I ordered it. I'll just add it to my existing subscription.

They've tricked you into thinking that $3 a month for something you should be getting for free is a good deal. Don't be tempted, it's still wrong

Who said it should be free? If I had the choice between PSN, Wii's service, and Xbox Live I'd pick XBL anytime knowing full well I'm paying a couple extra bucks a month. Why? Cause the service is better. It offers more, it does more, it's better overall in most ways. It certainly would be nice if it were free, wouldn't everything? But if I had to sacrifice quality and features for it to be free then forget it. Their competition is terrible-- Wii's internet service is pathetic if for no other reason than a lack of voice chat and being able to play with random people, and PSN has only recently become fully functional.

You're just a cheap whore Zeus, there's no shame in admitting it.

There are two ways in which Live is better than either WiiConnect or PSN:

1) Better and more widespread online
2) More game-related microtransactions, such as themes, videos, etc.

Is that worth $5 a month? Fuck no, especially for someone like me who don't play online very much anyways. And not when #2 is promotional stuff which companies should want you to have and when you consider that multiplayer is a selling point for a game.

If you pay $60 for a game, you should be able to play the damned game that's on the disk. For certain games (ie. Halo, Gears, CoD), online is half the game that's on the disk. It's essentially the same as having stuff on the disk that you can't use unless you pay money. I don't know how people could happily pay for Live yet bitch and complain about paying to unlock the content that was already on the Need for Speed disc. Same shit, different pile. You're still paying to use a portion of the game you just paid full price for. If you weren't paying full price it would be different, but you ain't getting a $20 game to pay to play online. Incidentally, that's the same problem I have with World of Warcrack

So it's very simple: I purchase games on the 360 based on their offline stuff and determine their value based on that. For Wii and PS3, online is free so it has that little bit more value. If I had a PS3 at the time, I may have gotten GTA4 for it since I really ain't very interested in the downloadable episodes.

And I've never, ever claimed I ain't cheap. But I will pay for what I want. I do purchase stuff full price (GTA4, Wii Fit, the Wii) if I feel they're worth it. Live ain't one of them.

I still find myself agreeing with Zeus on this topic.
