Not this shit again....
Hack and slash hell, with a dash of unbalanced gameplay, and a dollop of this-entire-skill-set-is-fucking-useless.

There goes my life. With SC2 coming soon, too, i'll never get out from behind my comp. Man, i wasted so many hours playing D2 hardcore, i loved it.

Diablo I was the first game I ever played online... ahh the days of dialup. I also led a clan {LoH} for a year in Starcraft so both hold a special place for me.
Holy shit... it's almost been a DECADE since I started that clan, now I feel old :\ Amazing that I'm still friends with some from back then.

Does anybody have a Diamond Ring of the Zodiac? Or maybe a Godly Plate of the Whale? Do you have a Staff of Apocalypse with 99 charges?

I just hope they handle loot better this time around, having to learn to click the ground as fast as hell was 90% of the game.

Hell yes, this game looks fucking EPIC.
Witch Doctors? SWEET. Gonna go CANNIBAL on yo ASS.

I predict Blizzard's going to regret making this when they find out it's going to cannbalize their own population in WoW, since WoW is basically Diablo 3 that you have to pay a monthly fee for the vast majority of the players. That is unless Diablo 3 requires a monthly subscritpion fee too.

After viewing the gameplay video, it looks like there's no change in the loot pickup.

Maybe they were clicking real fast, but it seems that you pick up gold just by walking over it.

no new IPs? Blizzard is getting a little too "old hat" for my tastes.

Blizzard have never really been an innovative studio. Their talent has always been in polishing. If they just keep iterating on their existing brands I won't be unhappy.

I like the environmental affects---you can knock down walls, jump over holes, etc etc. Its not a huge twist, but it looks like it could make for more interesting team-based dynamics--one person runs up a staircase, the others lure a monster into position, than he knocks a pillar onto its head.
Plus, the boss battles look sick.

They've done enough innovating for a while... you make it sound like they stick to the same thing all the time. How quickly we forget that when it came out, World of Warcraft was a total departure from what Blizzard had released in the past. This isn't Dynasty Warrior 7 or The Sims 2.4.2.1.6, it's Diablo III. I'm sure there will be plenty new and interesting in the game and it won't be a prettier Diablo II. The gameplay trailer alone proves that.

If it's free to play, I'll buy it. Otherwise, it's just another Warcrack to me

I really don't understand the appeal of clicking mouse buttons on creatures over and over again. At least MMOs are, well, online, and have better strategies than "Attack this", "attack that"..

Its simple fun. Click, kill. Its easy to pick up and just play. Sometimes, you don't NEED much more than that, especially if your enemies explode into piles of gore and bones.

1. Diablo is, er, online?!
2. Diablo was always about more than just clicking to attack.
I just can't believe how good it looks. Blizzard, I think, have artists more aware of the strengths and limitations of the medium, and with more talent, than any other Western developer.

SC2 and Diablo 3 will be free to play on BNET.

Well, DUH! It's not an MMO, therefore it will be free to play. It's ALWAYS been free to play.

It is a pretty safe assumption, but I'd still like to see it confirmed by Blizzard before making it.

Regardless of how popular WoW has become, even Blizzard knows full well if they tried to charge for online MP for SC2 or D3 there'd be riots in the streets and charred ash where their office building once stood the next morning.

Agreed. Its simple, quick, and somehow extremely addictive to get the next best gear, max out an ability, or see what will drop from the next boss/mini boss. This formula should have led me to play MMO's, but they are just too damn slow for my liking, and i dont need a whole virtual world to be entertained. MMO's, to me, are just too much, too big, and too expensive. I used to be able to crank out a decent D2 character in a day... then have them die on accident and the process starts all over. I hope they keep Hardcore mode, i WOULD probably get bored otherwise.
I was a proud owner of one of the highest level'ed Lightning Storm Amazons when not a lot of people used that ability on USEast Hardcore. Good times.

I thought I was excited.
Looks like Gauntlet.
I like the Stay-Puffed marshmellow man that explodes into snakes (about half way thru the gameplay video."
