Looks like Sony's trying to come out with the "bigger and better" to offset a price drop

The 160GB PS3 will, in Europe at least anyways, have preloaded content to increased its perceived value.
I'm still waiting for the drop in price myself

The PSP is great....mostly for non-gaming stuff. Now, don't get me wrong, there's still a good dozen games on it that anyone would want, but not enough to drop $200 for it.
The PS3 needs a price drop, period. The ONLY reason they haven't yet is 'cause they're neck in neck with the 360 as it is now and they feel that they're building momentum and don't need it (and they don't consider the Wii to be a competitor). So they're - and Microshaft - trying to offset a price drop of, say, $50 by including an additional manufacturing fee of $5 to up to 160GB HD and keep the price the same. But if that rumoured 360 drop happens and that month the 360 trounces the PS3, then we'll see a drop.
But they're still pushing about 200k a month, which is about in line with the PS2 sales curve if I'm not mistaken. They simply have to reason to right now

The 360 JUST had a $50 price drop around E3 last month... are you claiming there's another one rumored?

That was only to clear out the 20GB models. The 60GB models are back up to $350, so I think Zeus is referring to a drop of the 60GB to $300.

The big rumour is Arcade to drop on Sept 7 with the 60GB to drop to $300 permanently. It's not hard to find the articles on Gamespot or 1up

"Xbox 360 to Cut Arcade Prices to $199.99 on Sept. 7th"
From one of the articles. What the fuck does that mean? The XBox Arcade is not $200. Most titles are in the $10-15 range.

They're talking about the Arcade bundle, the one that comes with the Pac-Man disc and no HDD.
With that, the big rumour now is they essentially have to drop the 60GB to $299 otherwise the Arcade will severly cannibalize the sales of the 60GB. Or bundle the snot out of it. That HD sure as hell ain't worth $100

I just got Valkyrie Profile for the PSP after searching for it since I got my PSP. Anybody else play either of the games? I've been at the end of VP2: Silmeria for about a year now... I think I'm way underpowered and can'[t be bothered to go level up or start over.

I only played the original PSX one for a couple of hours. Another one of those I never got back around to

If you're a fan of the Valkyrie Profile games and have a DS, there is a third one that is coming out this winter.
