So my 360 flashed me three delightful red lights on the ring of light about a week ago after I was trying to get the under 30 hour achievement for GTA4. I was kinda happy because I've secretly wanted my 360 to die before crazy awesome holiday season coming up. However, it sprung to life the next day. it plays every game just fine EXCEPT grand theft auto 4. GTA4 simply boots to the copyright screen and then freezes. I've tried my copy of GTA4 on another 360 and it works just fine, so why doesn't it work in mine?!?!?! I contacted rockstar's online support structure and they told me to check my disc for scratches and try it on another 360. When I did and it worked, I contacted Microsoft's online support structure. They've been giving me email after email of "make sure your 360 is properly ventilated" and "try taking off the HDD", things that I have already tried since my 360 died last year and I had to go through all of this. So what am I trying to ask in all this? Well, when you send your console in for repair, in order to get it repaired for free they must confirm that your console has the RROD. Mine will not pass this test and potentially cost me dollars. Any suggestions on my course of action herein?

What up, Bovie! How's that 360 doing? Man, it'd be a shame if you left that thing on for several days straight. Even worse, if it fell out of your hands and got tangled up in a towel while it was still running! You've gotta give those things REST and PROPER VENTILATION or they'll RROD on ya.

It's a simple one for me: I'd just tell them it ain't workin' at all anymore and send it back. Once it gets the 3RROD it's dead IMO. Keep your HDD though

They do warn they test pretty thoroughly to make sure you have the issue before repairing it... oddly enough though my issue came about when I tried to pop Rock Band into my Xbox for the first time, then it all shit the bed. I only SAW the RROD once, but it was constantly crashing after a few minutes on any game too. Just got mine back on Wednesday, thank god.

Well, whomever I was talking to through email-tag over at xbox customer support finally recommended I just file for a 360 coffin and I have. Sadly it looks like my preordered rock band 2 will have to wait until the rock band/castle crashers player gets back.

I got mine back in 4 days last time i sent it in. Rock Band don't come out 'til what, October? I think you'll be fine

they're releasing the game and instruments in october, but for those who do not care to get new instruments the game itself comes out on september 14th.

Hit up a Blockbuster for really cheap games. The first gen 360 titles may not be accepted, but there are a ton of games for under $10.

I just got mine back... They shipped me the coffin on the 14th, they received my Xbox on the 18th, and I got it back on 24th. This is with me being in Pennsylvania and the repair center being in Texas. So all in all a quick turn around.

Does this mean you'll be awol with Castle Crashers soon? :\

Looks like it, I think it officially died today. I tried to get my account back after transferring it to Oracle's 360 only to see it freeze up and flash the 3 red lights at me again. Tried it again later to a similar result. I hope I don't miss all the castle crashers joy and funnliness.

I do check Blockbuster, but I have a local Microplay where I also get great deals on use stuff, usually between 10-20% off, depending on the game. I paruse their used stock, ask my bud who's a manager at EB which games work for the deal , then get enough to get me (or us) the games we're lookin' for. I'm gonna try and get RE5 CE and Rock Band 2 that weekend.

I sent my 360 back in its little postal coffin last monday. Well, I have Rock Band 2 and the 360 hasn't even gotten to the "repair centre" yet. Damn you purolator!!!!!!!!

Yeah but it also destroys his credibility. Few care/believe a person who didn't bother to come forward until after they got canned (read: Scott McClellen sp?)

Who said it was after the tester got canned? And who said that few people believe in what Scott McClellen said?
