One game to rule them all

I was just thinking in the castle crashers thread that I've played some online games with some of you (Andrew and his lady in CoD4, Sine in TF2 and Seraph in GTA4, Tessian, BL, and Chris in Halo3, CoD4, castle crashers, and GTA4, and Zeus in some game or another). However, you guys have had this little forum thing for a while and don't really set up any sort of game to play with all of you together. Why is that? I understand you all have different tastes in games, but wouldn't it be awesome to play something with all of you? I've never played with Eric, Seeker, Lox, Kupek, Flip, Ish, kali, don, or rent. It's nice talking to you guys on this forum, but why no inter-game playing?

It's mostly a logistical problem, I think. Not all of us have access to the same systems. Seeker would like to play games on his Wii but he's spent the last six months transcribing a couple of friend codes and still has a heap to go. Kupek's still playing his Atari 2600. Flip's busy making bets and not paying them. Lox and Ish play games together, but not the kind you want to talk about in front of small children, like Rent. Kali and Eric probably spend all of their time farming each other for honour in WOW, and Don spends too much time writing about games to play them.
Also, we hate each other.

Back when the banner graphic was made, my suggestion for the kicker was "We don't actually like each other, we're just used to each other."

I still dont have a next gen system... its sort of weird that i continue to enjoy reading up on everything and following all things games, but dont hardly play.
Back in the day i played SC with manshoon a lot, tessian, and BL... but right now my only computer is a laptop that cant play games very well.
I hope to remedy this and get a PS3 in the near future, but even then who can i play with on this forum? Just rent? Also, i live in a 2 bedroom townhouse in DC with a lesbian who is only actually home 1 night a week, the other nights she spends at her GFs. Due to this, we decided to not get cable TV/Internet since its crazy expensive, she wouldnt hardly use either one making a split of costs unfair, and i hardly ever watch TV. I use a USB satellite thing for Internet from Sprint (since i get a huge discount through AOL that makes it roughly 20 a month) that isnt as fast as cable and im unsure how to get it to work with a PS3 right now.
Bascally, it all boils down to that we all have weird schedules and different lifestyles. I remember when i was in school and could easily log on whenever, play anything, and could devote time for anything. Ah, life was good back then.

To be perfectly honest, it's a myriad of factors over a single important issue.
The main issue: I can't stand using a mic. It's makes me feel like an uber dork talking to my monitor. Seriously. Even in MMO's I try not to use it and my mates understand. The rare time I do, it's a chorus of "Holy shit Kris actually said something!".
Secondary issues:
- Real busy with work and/or travel
- My latest Gold card is still sitting in it's package
I'll pop on eventually -- just don't expect me to use my mic unless I'm drunk or it's absolutely needed, lol.

I'd play castle crashers, but it's the type of game I'd play a few times with you guys and never play again. It wouldn't be worth the money for me to buy it.

I have two main issues:
1) Time - with a new job, a purchase of a rental property, and twins on the way (just went to my first Lemas class tonight, fucking horrible), I'm finding that I have less and less time to play games. I still collect but I just don't play as much as I used to, barely a few hours a week anymore. I'm tired alot now too because of all this. So I actually end up turning on my 360 more to watch movies with my wife and/or friends than to play. I have Soul Calibur 4 and Lego Indiana Jones just sitting there waiting for me, not to mention all the other games I have on the go (Mass Effect, Rock Band, and countless others)
2) Paying for Live - we've beaten this up and Tess will kill me if I say more, but you know where I stand :-)
However, I would like to set up some time in November to play Gears 2 and some Rock Band 2 at some point. I very much enjoyed playing through Halo on Legendary, I think some Gears 2 on Insane would be fun online :-) Maybe some BC:RA and Carcassone if anyone's interested too.

A few of us played a browser game called Utopia for years; Eric and myself were members of the top Kingdom in the game. We also had Starcraft which was fairly major for us back in the 90's, we could easily fill up all slots a lot of the time.
Mostly for me, aside from a select few, I don't like playing games online, I find it is too time consuming a task for something so unrewarding. I have MUCH less of a problem sitting for 14 hours playing through Xenogears or some Final Fantasy game than 14 hours of some online game. Of course, I don't mind offline multiplayer games because I find those far more rewarding and far less time consuming.
If it's going to be any game for us, I would guess Starcraft 2.
