Street Fighter 4

I went out to Pomona last night to see my old roomate and we went to the nearby arcade that had Street Fighter 4.

I only got to play one time sadly since there were a lot of people playing versus and I got my ass handed to me. I must say the game has awesome potential and I wish I could have played the single player to familiarize myself with it. It seems like a very solid fighter.

I was just thinking with my buddy though... Where the hell is Street Fighter 2 HD remix... because if SF4 comes out before it then the game will tank,

I don't think SF2TurboHD will be affected too much by SF4. If anything, the release of SF4 may help it

So the Street Fighter 4 MadCatz Tournament Edition Fight Stick.....

The thing got a rave review on Kotaku and I want a good fighting stick... but $150 is hard to justify....

I may just bite the bullet and get one

are you asking if it's out? Because it's out. Also, it's Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, SSF2THDR for short.

I might also. I'll wait and see. If this has a good d-pad, I might just order it instead.

When they released the PS2 and Xbox ones, I ended up getting one at full price but then EB dropped them to like $15 and I picked all of them up. I think it will happen again so I'm gonna wait out the pads.

But the stick I want. I got the last one they released for the SF Collection, the monstrosity that is essentially a portable piece of an arcade cabinet. If that stick is anything like it they're awesome. Just fucking expensive

Fuck, I wish I could afford the TE stick. So good. I'll settle for the pad, though.

This is also another example of How NOT to Create 360 Arcade Demos. The demo forces you to play 2-player, which you may or may not have at the time you're evaluating it.

Well just preordered one off Gamestops website. I would have done Amazon since I have prime but they didn't have it for preorder.

Though I did get free shipping from Gamestop using the word "Saver" in the promo box.

Stick is no longer available at Gamestops website, glad I pre-ordered now

Amazon.ca doesn't even have Street Fighter 4 on their site, let alone any of the Mad Catz accessories.

EBGames.ca doesn't have online ordering! LOL!

Not saying I was actually going to order from either of these sites but if I wanted to, I could not.

If I had a PS3, I could agree somewhat. The 360 controller, however, is fucking TERRIBLE for fighting games.

I think I'll have to pick up the mad catz arcade stick. Either that or I'll make my own again like I did for the PS2.... maybe I should just rewire that one to a 360 controller....

The 360 controller is so horrible for Street Fight 2 HD remix I realized after playing it that an Arcade Stick was a must.

I agree about the 360 controller I went and got SF2HD for the PS3 heh.

I had a really hard time figuring out what system I was going to get this for. I wanted to excellent controls that come with using the ps3's dpad, but if most of you are going to get it for the 360, then who am I going to play it with? Well, I finally broke down and preordered it (along with killzone 2, hopefully it will be as good as the first one, har har) for the 360.... I hope I can get my hands on a nice arcade stick.

I do not like either of these posts, as it fills me with a level of jealousy that I would rather not see come up again in the near future. Perhaps you would trade your excellent stick of joy for a word or two of compliments? "you're looking high of spirits today" or "Those are some well made trousers you find yourself inside of" would be some enticing examples of the compliments you may be in store for.

A Madcatz stick in Canada you cannot get. Balls, balls, balls.

So... thinkin the netcode in SF4 is going to be garbage compared to HD Remix. They're not using GGPO which is a huge mistake.

I don't know why, but I'm expecting a really disappointing online experience if the online is handled strictly by Capcom Japan. Nearly everybody in Japan plays locally or in arcades -- who in Japan is really going to care if SF4 doesn't have excellent online.

Moved to March or April.

Just download the one for XBLA. There's only a slim chance the 3D one ain't gonna suck, regardless of how much Grin are fans of the game (as they proved with the remake)

Pretty much my thoughts.

SFIIHD and SF4 probably have completely different development teams, so if the netcodes are different, it's not a change; they didn't "mess with" what works.

Quit playing Devil's advocate. They are by different teams, the netcode is different -- the point is that somebody at Capcom didn't acknowledge a superior system of online play and implement it in one of their flagship titles. I know that this is all speculation at this point, but I've got a strong feeling that the online in SF4 will be second-rate at best because Capcom failed to utilize GGPO, even after seeing how well it handled online HD Remix matches.

I'm not playing devil's advocate, I just understand how much inertia there is in large software projects. Even if another library is obviously better than what's being used, if what's being used works, the resistance to changing it will be huge.

And that would be the Japanese branch, coincidentally they also didn't release SF2HDRemix in Japan either because they thought they'd lose money by even bothering to release such an online heavy game over there.

how much money does it cost to put a game up for digital distribution?

Platform licensing fees - although I'm curious how much it actually costs. In the US, there's also ESRB.

360 as well. The EB's here will NOT order a stick or pad for you because they have no idea how many they're getting. Whatever they've got coming in is all spoken for as well.

So unless some online retailer starts shipping sticks or pads to Canada, I'm stuck playing this on my shitty 360 pad.

They just changed that last Friday. They weren't accepting any pre-orders before then but now they are. I don't know if anything has changed again between now and then but I have put my $30 on it. Still not sure if I'm gonna pay $189+tax for the damned thing, though. That's like buying a PSP for cryin' out loud.

And I'm getting mine for the 360 due to the lack of a PS3. Should be pickin' it up tonight
