Yeah first time I've been happy with a sports purchase since the first time the 2k series because ESPN Nhl hockey (the first iteration was great then really stopped innovating) and the ea series has prety much been stagnant since 2002, this is the first time I've really really enjoyed a sports game in a long while and felt like I've gotten something new. the controll sceme is fantastic and easy to learn and am learning new ways to futz wth it. the ability to just be one guy on your team is fucking fantastic. I meant to play one game when I brought it home befre bed but instead ended up playing 12 games. I'm seriously loving it. and it's about fucking time too.

You know, if you fucking people would quit buying the same game every year, maybe they would have a reason to innovate.

Sine, you're out of your element.

Chris, the dual-stick controls have been in since '07 I believe. The Be-A-Pro or whatever mode sounds pretty fucking cool, though.

Sine has a good point. I am a victim of buying Madden every year since the Genesis/SNES days. But I buy it not because of new innovations, but rather new player rosters. That is where the sports genre gets you. They don't have to innovate because they have another way to keep you buying the game.

Now, I haven't been as into the game in the past few years (I rarely even play it other than to whip up on my brother when I have the urge), but I do believe that you have the ability to download updated rosters and import them. If people would just download the updated rosters, it would force Sega, EA, etc to innovate.

But really, how much can you innovate in a sports game that has a fairly static set of rules?

I am a little different, if I am going to buy a Sports game, it's probably going to be 1 NHL and PES game per generation. I will buy others if they're along the lines of Megaman Soccer, Hit the Ice, NBA Jam, etc... I am a fan of those kinds of Sports titles. Despite the low review scores, I also like Olympic Sports series, and have so since the genesis days.
