I'm looking forward to patch 1.1 because of the following:

Other changes for 1.1 include major additions to the chat system (item linking and more)...

The inability to link items in chat is one of my current "irks." Why launch an MMO without item linking ability via the chat system? LAME!

I'd assume item linking was just something they didn't have the time to do, though it's a pretty standard feature in MMORPG. It doesn't bother me too much since you can usually guess what stats something ought to have (not the exact allocation but the range) but it certainly would be a lot nicer if it was there.
