US Console penetration per household since 1995

It's interesting to see that it has been relatively static for the past 13 years. 95 was the height of the 16 bit era which explains its high numbers, 94 I am guessing was somewhat lower. 01 and 02 were the height of Sonydom which explains the high numbers then, and 2008's high number can be attributed to Nintendo's second rise. This year and next will probably be the height of the current era, but the landscape is different now then it was a few years ago so we might actually continue rising.

Yea, the revival of nintendo probably is a good part of that. Even my mom was curious about a Wii and Wii Fit and she never even played any of the consoles we had in the house growing up.

I'm curious to see '88 or so numbers. If I'm not mistaken, the NES had 33% or so penetration, which would be amazing considering
