Way to start multiple topics on the same subject...whore.
I'm not very fond of the PC version. It has crashed 3 times on me. Once when I left Super-duper mart, the other two times after I closed out of the game.

I just got out of the vault, and I am impressed so far.

it's weird. I really wasn't liking it that much until I really got into the city. as soon as I met got to the top of the washington monument and looked across the mall towards the capital building my brain exploded at how hauntingly beautiful the game is

Just beat it tonight. Did it whilst being good. I will not include any spoilers, but I'll tell you that there is an opportunity to save it near the ending so that you can get at least two different endings. Vague enough to not be a spoiler? I hope so.

I just got out of the vault. Neat so far but I haven't really flushed out the battle system or story yet. So far so good

That's what I did. The ending was barely changed though. I think I could actually get three endings.... or more?
!!!MEGA SPOILERS!!!!
I went into the chamber both times. Once I input the code, the other time I didn't. Ending was mostly the same. I forgot that I could also load the FEV thing the "president" gives you to wipe out the mutants. I never asked Lyons to go in either. I had Fawkes with me at the time and told him he ought to go in since he can withstand the radiation but he would not. Lame!

after finishing the game I would say that f I hadn't explored all over the place the game would have been an extreme dissapointment. but with the huge amount of exploration I did I would call it....good. I don't really have an urge to play again though unlike the first 2. I dunno. I guess with the ending I came away kind of....meh.

So, I'm cool now, right? I bought the game. 64 dollars left me feeling a bit annoyed at it, and the very weird character-building intro made me scratch my head some, but...
MAN does this game rock. It's like Oblivion, except without the SUCK. The missions all seem strangely important, and if you play the game like John Wayne, being the righteous, kind-hearted gunslinger, it seems to just WORK really well that way.
The atmosphere is great too. I'm far more interested in exploring a scarred and barren wasteland if that wasteland is one I recognize--slaughtering bad guys in a desolate elementary school is far more satisfying than doing the same in "Generic cave 23/1000" in Oblivion.
I just finished the "Blood Ties" mission, and MAN that was a cool little bit of sidestory. I'm back in Megaton and am at a loss of where to go next, but since getting lost in the world is so much fun (when I don't have crab monsters trying to eat me), I don't mind so much.
My one annoyance is why they bother to have a hooker in the game who offers to sleep with you, allows you to pay money for such a thing, and then there's absolutely no even vague HINTS at sex. A bit of a let-down, really.

Yes, Rent. You're cool now. How's the smoking going?
I have not yet had a chance to play through this for a second time, what with so many games released in the last few weeks. Still, even though the ending is disappointing, it is still my GotY so far, besting MGS4 and LBP. I traded in Fable 2 yesterday... don't think I'm ever getting back into that. Playing Fallout right after Fable may have been a mistake. Fable 2, for me, will always be a good game made redundant a week later by a far superior product.
And now there's Gears 2 and L4D... Christ.

I'm up for L4D multi once it comes out. That game looks like it can really kick ass. Already got mine mostly paid for (I love EB :-). BTW, anyone who's interested in it may want to pre-order as you get 10% off if you do. You only need to put $5 down. You Americans will have to check if that's available in the US but I think it is.
I'm ankerin' to beat Gears 2 in co-op on Hardcore this weekend. I've only gotten to Act 2 so far before multi took over. And I still have to beat the first on Insane and will want to do the second as well after I beat it on Hardcore if anyone's interested. We tried Horde on Hardcore on Monday night....HOLY FUCK was Wave 10 hard as hell. Gotta do Normal first :-)
Man, I still haven't gotten off of the first planet in Mass Effect, I only just got out of the vault in Fallout 3, and I just got to the first big town in Fable 2. That's before we even talk about tryin' to work through SC4 with all of the characters or tryin' to beat Call of Duty 4 on Veteren (it's basically unfair on Veteren difficulty; that's a perfect example of how not to make a game difficult as it's now more trying to out-think the designers than it is playing the game which is why I haven't picked it up for a while). And I've got my Naruto game coming soon and Rock Band 2 which I haven't even put into the system yet. Lots of shit on the go.
And MGS4 is still my fav game of the generation not just the year.

I'm quitting. That's why I bought Fallout--taking fictional drugs in a nuclear wasteland will take my mind off of the real ones I take in my dystopian, sadly-nuke-free real life.

Zeus, tell the wife to delay her pregnancy. You've got games to play and the twins are only going to (selfishly) take away from your free time.

Playing the game off and on, really enjoying it. I was evil right out the door, since I figured I would play it though again like I did with Fallout 2 (dont think I ever played #1).
I have to find vault 87 right now. Best part yet, by far, was:
Watching the mushroom cloud from toasting Megaton
