Essentially what the artcile states: Starcraft II is going to be not 1 game, but three games. Each game contains one of the campaigns for each of the three primary races in the Starcraft Universe. On the plus side, the trilogy is going to be FAR larger than the original Starcraft.

Wow... surprised we didn't post this sooner, I remember reading this on Kotaku during Blizzcon.

I'm really not happy with this decision, Blizzard is really taking advantage of their Clout and fanbase. A friend said this was partially done so they could compete with the new warhammer 2 40k.

Sadly, I know I'll buy all 3 releases -_-

I am wondering why this wasn't posted earlier as well; I actually heard it for the first time on my lunch hour.

I already know I am getting all three as well. I mean, it's a blow to the consumer... but not enough of a blow to scare me away from it. Likely it will be one of my most played games in 2009 and 2010... I do have a price though: if they cost 150 or less I will buy all three; if they cost 180 or more, then likely I will buy one and wait for a battle chest down the road.

WoW's numbers in South Korea was not very good when they were charging $25 or $30 a month, and we know Blizzard literally owns South Korea.

Having 30 scenarios that 3 random guys can create with a mission generator doesn't allow you to charge 3 times the money. How many people actually played through Starcraft without using cheat codes? It's actually really boring to play it the way you're supposed to.

It's going to be a trilogy but from what I understand each new game will be like it's own expansion.

It sounds more to me like they're just releasing the CAMPAIGNS as three pieces... they better not all be the same damned price. If you want to release a much larger single player campaign and break it out in chunks like that that's fine, but the 2nd and 3rd better be like $20/piece or something like that.

I dont think i ever played through the campaigns fully. I learned what i needed to then hopped online... which is a totally different strategy altogether really, online vs computer. I was pretty high up on the USEast ladder for a good while, too, back in the day, so i dont care much for the campaigns. As long as you dont need to buy all 3 to use the different races online, i'll just buy one.

I am the same way with my strategy games. I maybe play the single player for a couple maps to get used to the tech trees and how each race plays, but I'm in it for the skirmishing.
