All this is showcasing is how the game can't handle its own graphics.

Well, that and how the battles looks to be somewhat complex. I hope there aren't more than 100 of these battles, though.

Thanks for pointing out EXACTLY why developers don't let us see much of their games before release. The slickness of the graphics is totally irrelevant at this point, you don't think they won't fix that? This must be what, the alpha stage if that? It's not going to be very polished, but they decided to release a few videos anyway, even though people like you would look at it and say "that game can't run correctly" instead of realizing that's a given with an unfinished product.

Looks like the engine can handle it better than Fable 2 and it ain't even fully optimized yet.

I have to see how it plays but this could be pushing the whole "it's too complicated to really be fun" envelope.

Even with the texture issues the combat looks far more exciting and fun to watch and take part in then your typical RPG.

I hope FFXIII's combat is similar since that appears to be what Squarenix said they were pushing for, turn-based combat that looks like Advent Children.

Can't be as complex as FFT, and that game was fun as hell!

I don't think this one is turn based, is it? And they were getting attacked from every angle there. I think it's more complex than FFT

Yes, it was. Hence the "Turn 1" and "Turn 2" on the screen.

Yes, it was. Hence the "Turn 1" and "Turn 2" on the screen. Also, the menu choices weren't much, so it can't be that complex. Were you even paying attention?

Gametrailers posted a few more videos of it.

So many graphical issues/slow-down.

You'd think Square could do better. The Soundtrack seems nice, and the gameplay actually looks like it could be a blast.

Offical Xbox Magazine gave it a 7 out of 10, it's the Xbox's self-sucking mag gives it a 7 I cringe to think what other reviewers will give it.

Not lately. Besides FF12, I can't really name a good game from Square over the past 5 years or so.

I have played several really good games from Square just this year: Revenant Wings, Final Fantasy 4, Rings of Fate, and Dragon Quest 4. There's also The World Ends With You, I have yet to play it, but it looks very good.

Other than remakes, The World Ends With You is their big new one. Check it out, it's great. But, like all non-big name Squeenix stuff, it sold very modestly. That's why you see so many remakes or quasi-sequels from them now. No one is buying any of the new stuff anymore

DS, DS remake, DS, boring fucking JRPG, and DS. Is the DS their only avenue?

Only one I played was The World Ends with You, and I stopped playing it when I realized that they were serious about somehow controlling two characters at the same time. Imagine playing Secret of Mana with two controllers.

Good DS games are still good games. They did announce a while ago that the DS was going to be their main focus. I forget the reason though, but I assume it's because of the huge userbase.

That does sound kind of weird (on The World Ends With You). I don't know a lot about the game; I have barely read anything on it except opinions.

Format don't matter, does it? I mean, a good game is a good game, no?

Format doesn't matter only if your format is inferior.

Don wrote:Format doesn't matter only if your format is inferior.
Format don't make a good game. I have every format you've ever heard of aside from the PS3 and some of my favourite games are released on "inferior" formats. Technically, handhelds are "inferior" formats but both of those handhelds have had some of the best games of the last 3 years.

It has always been about gameplay and game design. And that don't change with the format

In sales of Square Enix games? Way off, Square Enix has multiple games that have sold between 1 and 3 million, but have only sold approximately 0.5 million games total on Xbox 360.

Are we3 seriously going to discuss this? Awesome!

360 wins in terms of support from square-enix because it got 2 (count 'em, 2) numbered final fantasy games (11 &13). Sure the DS gets one lousy dragon quest, but it's taking too long to come out so I don't care about it.

My turn: DS actually wins that one. DS has two numbered Final Fantasy games already out with a third one on the way. Backwards compatability access to 5 other numbered Final Fantasy titles. It will also soon have 4 different numbered Dragon Quest titles.

In terms of what? You have to define what we're talking about here. It's too general of a statement. If you're talking about graphics, sure. But if you're talking about volume of good and innovative games, not really.

That means a lot coming from a guy who takes this shit way too seriously-- can we debate the iphone vs the PSP again??? Cause that was almost as hilarious as it was retarded. Or rather how about the PS3 vs a Roomba! The Wii vs a Toaster! A Blackberry vs a stick of butter!

Moving back on topic towards Last Revenant, Famitsu has been evidently giving it very good scores. I think it's average is like 38/40.

So Steam released a demo of this and I decided to give it a go on my PC.

My PC is rather ridiculous, so I threw every setting on max and most of the problems that plagued the X-Box 360 version(Extreme slow down, frame rate dropage, etc) aren't present on the PC.

Again, my computer is ridiculous and I maxed the settings, but if your computer is as absurd as mine you might as well try the demo.

I was kind of excited for this game but after hearing nothing but how poorly it ran (technically) I pretty much forgot about it. If the 360 install would fix everything, I'd give it a shot.

there's a demo for it on the pc, and it's coming out on steam soon (as a full game, the demo's already there). Is it time to upgrade the ol' pc?
