Yep, Horde Mode is owning me....

Played it for about 4 1/2 hours tonight and we got to Wave 30. HOLY FUCK was that wave hard as Ish at a 'Frisco nude beach.
This mode fucking rules. If you haven't played it yet, give 'er a shot. It actually allows you to restart at whatever wave you make it to so it's not like you have to start at 1 every time.
Played about an hour of the single player too. Pretty good there, it's like putting on a very comfy pair of pants again

I've just done the single player and I'm loving it. The story feels so much more intense and epic than the first game.

Put in another hour and a half of the campaign mode this morning. It is pretty good, flushed out a lot more than the first's. Scale's been ramped up huge but it still feels so much like Gears 1.

Beat the game on Co-Op with my buddy this morning. We had a blast overall, but some things in the story have me confused, which is intended, but yea. Good game.
We'll talk spoilers when you cats beat it too.

I would if my cousin and nephew will ever stop playin' online. We started at 2pm this afternoon and it's almost 2am and we're still going. I actually had a nap and we're still going :-)
You know what's odd? The game didn't register us for beating wave 45 of Horde mode when we beat it tonight. We actually had to go back and re-beat it to get the achievement. Very strange. And the last Variety is the Spice of Death thing isn't the grenade tag. Tried that when we did the wave again. We did the Hammer, Flamethrower, and Morter during the Horde fight so it must be one of the Locust weapons.

Yea I noticed when I got out of game about Wave 45, and have to get into another game of Horde to get it. I'm going to have to look up the beat down achievement...

The melee the Tickers achievement is gonna be a pain in the ass....
Beat Down? That's the execution one they were talking about last night? I've got 5 of the 11 but I ain't sure which ones I have. I wish they'd at least tell you which ones you got so you'd know. And this gun one is gonna kill me. One freakin' gun out of 15.......
And how the hell do you choose Meatflag? I'm dyin' to play that mode but I can't find it in the menus

Dear Lord, they changed the name of MeatFlag to Submission thanks to the PR guys. Fucking kidding me....

I don't see how that's a PR thing... if anything they'd object to the game type, not the name "Meat Flag" what's to be offended about there? Maybe it was just renamed to be more obvious?
The idea of a flag that can defend itself from whomever's capturing him just sounds fun, haha.

My last weapon ended up being the 6-shotter pistol.
I have 1 more execute to figure out still

Alright alright, I think I may relent and get Gears 2 tomorrow... mostly because I saw the Gamestop ad for +20% on trade-ins towards it, and I have about 10 PS2 games I dug out of the back of my entertainment center that I can get rid of. Never traded in a game before, but figured since my sibling ran off with my PS2 years ago I might as well now.
So assuming I do who's playing Horde mode with me?

I'll be busy myself 'til later in the week, most likely the weekend. Doing a crash learning course at work right now to cover for a pregnant woman.
I got the six-shooter, we checked during multi last night. It's gonna be process of elimination to find this one.

I'm slowly working towards the weapon achievements and all that. Horde is way too addictive though. Heck, I was doing some MP and that's ridiculously addictive too. Darn you Gears!!!

Yea, I played a good amount of multiplayer last night and was kicking ass and taking names.
Though there is way too much Chainsawing and smoke grenading, but I'm guilty of that too...

I have yet to get even one of the Crossed Swords, it'll be fun to do that.
We HAVE to play Submission this upcoming weekend. I'd also love to start a Horde Mode on Normal mode to see what it's like. It was rough enough on Casual....

I beat the entire game on Hardcore with my buddy, and I was shocked to hear we were only playing Casual on Horde Mode.
Insane... was literally insane, but you know someone will beat it...

For sure someone will soon. There are tons of uber-nerds out there and I'm sure 5 of them will get together and do it.
I'd actually love to do a co-op campaign as well. If anyone's up for that later in the week or on the weekend I'm there. We can do it online, yes? I just go to the point where you meet up with Baird.

Yes, you can do co-op online. Once I finish the game completely on single player I am fine doing any levels in co-op. Or if someone wants to join me where I am that's fine too. I just don't want to skip ahead for co-op.

Yeah, we're going to inevitably have it where one guy is re-doing or skipping ahead to meet up with the other.
How about this: let me finish the game on Normal on my own then you and I will start fresh and do a Hardcore co-op together. Coo? I don't mind just starting over on Hardcore co-op whenever, actually.

Thats my problem this generation, too. A friend of mine with a 360 asks me every week when i will buy one, and i finally found a decent response. I just dont have time for a new hobby. Considering the amount of unplayed games, unread books, and unexplored other interested i currently have, i cant possibly figure out how i would fit in a new system. Sadly. Yet, i still follow the news on games, go figure.

wow... I played 2 games of Horde mode for the first time tonight. First one we wiped at wave 7, but the 2nd one we took to round 27 before dying. Freaking over 90 minutes to get that far... this is really something you gotta play with friends cause it takes FOREVER!

Did you play it on Casual or Normal? We tried it on Hardcore with 5 guys who have played their share of Gears and we got WASTED on Wave 10. And we were playing on Jacinto where you can funnel them right to us

Horde mode is so deliciously hard that I love it. We were getting wasted on Hardcore on Wave 9, but it was still so much fun.
I am just about done the story so I will be up for anything (Horde, mp, co-op) once that is done.

I believe we were on normal? Difficulty bonus was x2 after each round.
I'm all about doing Horde and co-op whenever you guys are around
PostPosted:Fri Nov 14, 2008 10:51 am

Yeah, it's basically a x1 added for each difficulty above Casual. We made it to level 30 on Normal the very first night I played then Anarky and I with a bunch of others beat it on Casual last week. It's not easy near the end even on Casual. We had some trouble from Wave 45 on. You actually need people who work together and can actually play decently to get through it. Insane probably requires a bunch of gold-level guys working like a well-oiled machine.....
I actually would like to start a Hardcore Co-op from the beginning tonight if anyone's interested. I'm interested in searching around for all of the Collectibles too so it won't be just a straight romp. I've gotten 9 of the 11 in Act 1 , I've only played up to partway through Act 2. I'm pretty sure the two I got in the training grounds (with Carmine) are the only ones. I'll be on between 9pm and 10pm. If anyone's interested, let me know and we can set a more solid time.

If I'm around I'll look you up, I don't know what I'll be up to. I took the day off so I'll probably spend half the afternoon on Gears anyway
I tried to search around for the collectibles during my solo campaign, it's not easy... unless you've got a guide that tells you where the damned things are it'll be a mostly futile and time wasting event.

Lotus, Tess - I got kicked out of your game and couldn't come back in. Had to go for dinner anyways so it wasn't too bad. But how did you guys end up doing?

Pretty sure Live exploded after that game. Tom (Jorjives) couldn't sign into Live and my friends list disappeared.

Kotaku confirmed it-- outage issues all day with Live. I played a game a few hours ago though and it worked, but after our game I couldn't even play single player.
I'll be on to play a bit later if anyone else is around

I got your message last night, Tessian, but I had just told another friend I'd join their mp match to fill the last spot. With all these invites, I'm never going to finish the campaign.

It's alright man, me and Anarky know we're 2nd rate
Had some trouble at times getting a game going, but the rest we were doing quite well. Don't know how but there was even 1 match of Execution where I creamed everyone with the torque bow. Nothing sweeter than sticking a guy in the foot with an arrow while he hides behind a car.

You gave me some lame excuse about breaking a lamp!
You missed some good games... probably one of the first nights I've played where we won the majority of the games, and any losses were close.
Oh and in case anyone doesn't know--
