I'm thinking of signing up for Gamefly. I really want to try renting games before I buy, as this will also let me quickly get through games I want to play, but don't want to own. Gamefly SOUNDS sweet, but do any of you use it? Are there any hidden catches that I should know about it? Is it, ultimately, worth it?

I think its the same thing as Netflix with video games right? If so, you dont get any manuals, just a dvd in a sleeve.

Keep a game too long and it ends up being more cost effective to just buy it.

I used a Gamefly-esque service over a year ago-- it's great if there's multiple multiple games out there you want to play (like now) but once you burn through your queue what do you do then? That's what I ended up doing; subscribed for 3 months or so, played through about 5-6 games, then ditched it when there was nothing else I wanted to play. Give it a try, see what you think. Me personally I just didn't like forcing myself to keep playing games cause I felt like I was wasting money otherwise.

We were like that with Netflix. After a while, we were just burning DVDs to make sure that we weren't "wasting money". Some months we watch a bunch of movies. Others, we're just watching TV, or reading comics, or playing console, or playing MMOs. So, we aren't exactly consistently watching movies throughout the year to justify keeping the Netflix membership.

Granted, but you can take Netflix a lot slower-- rent a movie and you watch it on the weekend, or rent a TV show and watch an episode every few nights. Most games require at least a few hours of game play in a sitting to get places. Besides, there's a LOT more movies/shows out there to rent than there are games.

Back when we had it they had limited options. I dont even think they had less than 3 dvd's at a time.
