Incomprehensible message board users

Another major EQ patch came out and the official boards is once again over how this is the end of EQ. Now I think there isn't a patch in a MMORPG that can't be interpreted as the end of that game, so it's obviously nothing special. But I started noticing that it's the always same 5 guys who are going to cancel their 350000 accounts, for the last 5 years! Now obviously no one will be very surprised if Zeus is still talking about how MS sucks for the next 10 years and I'm guessing he's been doing it for the past 10 years too, but this board is free. The official EQ board requires an active subscription to post.
So this would be like Zeus need to pay some XBox Live service for $15 a month to post on some Microsoft only board, and then proceed to spend the next 10 years paying that monthly fee just to make sure everyone knows MS sucks. That, to me, is incomprehensible. I certainly can't imagine Zeus doing this, or anybody that doesn't have more money than they know what to do with. Obviously people online lie about stuff like canceling accounts, but you can at least get that these guys really don't like this game. Yet they're quite willing to pay $15 a month just for access to a message board that frankly isn't very good to begin with. Even people who love EQ don't have this kind of dedication, as far as I can tell.
But I'm sure SoE really loves guys who will pay $15 a month and then not even play the game, so maybe those guys are good for something after all.
