looks cool, but I still hate resource mining. I'll probably buy it..... but I love the innovations that company of heroes and dawn of war brought.

'tis true, those games did give you less to manage with resources, yet still made them strategically important. I don't think that SC2 does that much more though. It consolidates, but really it's just drones you have to manage/protect that's different.

If they dared to make radical changes like that, it will be the first time in a century that both North and South Korea become united on a military movement.

Man, look at how many probes/SCVs they build. That would have been wasteful in SC1.

Dawn of War is pretty kickass, but i never played the multiplayer, was it smooth and balanced? How long would games take?

After watching the video again.... maybe i shouldnt be so excited, SC2 seriously looks like another SC expansion. There arent ANY innovations! Even WC3 had the hero aspect.

there was a constant flow of patches for the original and the first and second expansions to really balance them. So, not counting the latest expansion, it is very well balanced. I used to be able to cruise through the other races as the space marines, but they have since been leveled to be more equal with the others. Or nerfed, or whatever you people call that these days. Matches usually take around 20 minutes if you are both equally matched. If not, then when a clash between forces is won, the winning team can easily swoop in for an easy win. Since it works with a squad mechanic, not individual units, if you have surviving squads, you can easily build them back up as they retreat.

From looking at the unit list it seems like the new trick this time is elevation, except that probably just means 'stand on the high ground for the win', which was true even in Starcraft 1.

You actually don't want to change the formula TOO much, as the "innovations" will get overshadowed by the balance issues. We are only seeing an observer gameplay video here, so there is probably a lot more than meets the eye.

Shut up about Dawn of War! You're making me wanna play it again :(

I have the Winter Assault and Dark Crusade expansions, never got the latest one. Freakin $30 for a 3rd expansion? Too much IMO. That's why I'm loving Sins of a Solar Empire's $10 expansions-- can't go wrong with that!

check out steam, soulstorm just dropped from $30 to $7.50 today. Also, if you buy it you get access to dawn of war 2's multiplayer beta. I already own soulstorm, and it just gave me the beta today.

OR you can get in the beta for pre-ordering the game... which I just might do. Better than spending $7.50 on a game I won't play more than once or twice.
