I'm leaning towards saying Fallout 3. It's the only new property this year that really sucked me in with a vengeance. Even IF the ending was terrible, and makes the game almost unplayable, that "almost" goes pretty far.
Of course, I haven't played Call of Duty 5 or Dead Space.
Wait, wasn't MGS4 released this year? One would think that would be a GOTY nominee.

I dunno, I never really liked a GOTY title because it's too hard to call one game superior to others, at least when they're in different genres.
I haven't played Fallout 3 yet (actually got 2 copies of it for Xmas)... so that withstanding my choices would be:
RPG: Fable 2
Action: Force Unleashed
FPS: Gears of War 2

Well, Tess, if you're going to put in a flawed game, then put in Ninja Gaiden 2, or DMC4. (Not sure if DMC4 was beginning of the year or not.)
Anybody played Dead Space or Mirror's Edge yet?

dead space was great. mirrors edge was similar to stuntman in that you died...a lot......and had to redoo sections becaus you died.....a lot.....it's status as being a parkour game was cool but the only reason I think I really enjoyed it was because of the fact that I played it right after watching District B-13

What flawed game? None of those three are "flawed"

MGS4. Right now it's my game of the generation.
Left 4 Dead is awesome, too. Super Smash Bros Brawl was my obsession for about a month. And I adored Burnout Paradise, might be the best overall racing game I've ever played. That actually came out this year too, way back in January.

Wasn't flawed when I played it... there were only a few cases where the game bugged (like getting flung over a wall) but that happened on rare occasions. You got a better action game to nominate?
