EA shifts core market focus to the Wii,

IGN Reports
I think this sums it up "EA's John Riccitiello has spoken of how the publisher is to place half of its emphasis on the Wii, as it looks to 'rival Nintendo on their own platform'."
I doubt they're going to rival Nintendo who sold 14 million Wii Fits, and 14 million Mario Karts on Wii last year; but I'll be looking forward to their efforts.
They noted that their core franchise games are heading to Wii while officially
announcing Dead Space.
I'm personally looking forward to any news on SPORE since that has been rumored for a long time to be coming to Wii.

RE4 was good, so this could possibly be good. However, I agree that it will probably be bad.

EA Redwood has a fairly good track record with the Wii (Godfather: Blackhand edition), so it should end up being good. The game is similar to RE4 which is a vastly improved experience on the Wii.

EA is preparing a new title for the Wii in the vein of Resident Evil which takes place aboard a derelict space craft and involves shooting things. The game is called Dead Space.

RE4 was also a GC port. This is a 360 port. Downgraded graphics and likely volume as well to keep the action flowing well. I'm skeptical but I guess Dead Rising will give us some indication of whether or not it's possible

Speaking of Dead Rising, kali, this one's for you:

Force Unleashed is a SD port of an HD game and rated better on Wii than the HD systems. In the case of this game, it is highly possible that the gameplay enhancements will eclipse the move from HD to standard definition (I don't care much about whether graphics are HD or not anyway. Many of my favourite games are on NES and 16 bit systems.). I don't think a company like EA would bring a version of this game over to Wii if they were going to do a bad job on it.

I think a lot of what Dead Rising is all about was the super high zombie count and being dependent on scavenging for weapons/health/books. Now the zombie count has been drastically diminished and that will probably (in addition to the new camera and controls) change the entire game.
Dead Space is all about the environment. It's creepy, the surround sound is always tense, the lighting is amazing, and how the colour bleeds in and out depending on where you are (zero g, space, or in the ship) is really a big part of the game. It unsettles you, and I think that will probably be lost in this obvious cash grab.

As someone who played the Force Unleashed on both platforms, I can say that the Wii version is far trashier then it's PS3 and X-box 360 cousin.
If you're using gamerankings.com to say that it rated better, then the numbers are quite off, as it's .3% higher then the X-Box version, which is for all intents and purposes the same as the PS3 version and reviewed about 2x as much as the Wii version
The X-Box version also sold more then the Wii version.

There are survival and horror games dating back to early PSX that achieve a very atmospheric setting too. I don't know if colour bleeding out will be lost. I am not too worried. Anyway, I am looking forward to what they do with this game along with others.

You forget that there's also NO PICTURE TAKING. That's right... the main character, a journalist, whose sole purpose there was to TAKE pictures does NOT HAVE A CAMERA in the Wii version. Seriously wtf... that's like porting Gears of War 2 and leaving out the Lancer (chainsaw gun).

Ha! Well, I appreciate that you remember my ranting on that particular subject. However, I think I should probably fess up and admit that I was most likely WRONG about all that. The Wii version really looks to be coming along nicely -- and with the improved RE4-like controls, I dare say it may actually surpass the 360 version. Kudos to you Capcom (and yes, you too Nintendo).
I was poking around the official site for the game and I gotta say, I'm pretty fucking excited by the movies they have.

I really recommend watching the parkade Wii video. Easily one of the most intensive areas (graphically and process-wise) on the 360 version, I was pretty floored to see that the Wii version is so nearly identical. I mean, there are literally 100+ fully functional zombies in that clip, getting splattered with real....realis.......
Haha!
Holy shit, I almost made it to the end of this post with a straight face.

LOL, I watched it, and there are shit for zombies in that area. As one who has made the Genocider achievement, I know the Underground Parking Garage like the back of my hand. At the end of each main square parking area, there's about 500 zombies all packed like a meat market.
And looking at this... THEY JUST REMOVED ALL OF THEM! Jesus, I'd feel sorry for the poor bloke who has to try to kill 54 thousand of these things.
The other movies are even worse. The character actually has to search around for zombies to kill. Any real player would just walk around them and kill any of them that might occasionally get on your way. (I also hate clicking on a stupid window every 2 seconds. Stupid Japanese!)
I wonder how rescuing that Daisy Duke bitch and her sister is going to look like on the Wii. That was another part with a shitload of zombies.

Apparently deadspace was made for the
original xbox. That should make it a little easier to port over to the wii then, I suppose.

No need to kill so many..there's no achievements on the Wii.

The Wii does not have the computing power or the graphical punch to match the other two systems. It just doesn't. Developers have been complaining about it, in fact.
The only studios that I've seen make content for the Wii that can rival the other two systems' AAA titles are Rare with Smash Bros., Retro with the Metroid Prime series, and Lucasarts withRogue Squadron/other Star Wars pilot sims - swear to God, Rogue Squadron for the GAMECUBE had better graphics than a lot of the titles released today. It still blows my mind, I ought to pick up a copy for my Wii.
None of this is a diss at the Wii, it's a lot of fun and the Wiimote is fun too when the developer actually takes time to use its full capability. I just got House of the Dead 2/3 for it and it's quite enjoyable, responsive...
But you have to appreciate the system for what it is, and what it is is not fast or graphically punchy. The whole thing is geared towards the Wiimote and more casual gaming experiences.

Glad you took a shine to DR. You hated it to begin with.

In all seriousness, I do hope Seeker -- and whoever else can't play the original version -- plays and enjoys this version. DR is a great game and I want my damn sequel now please.

Yeah, item management still really pissed me off, but after you get to level 35-40, it gets a lot better. Just wish that the learning curve wasn't so high, and the whole thing with this punishing clock was more up front in the game, instead of "hey, go try to save everybody, oh damn, somebody died and that's just going to piss you off".
After getting to level 45 and getting the Megaman blaster, it was actually fun to run through the "Save Everyone" FAQ, even if a couple of the run throughs were crazy. (Eight person runs sometimes.)
