Sticky Threads

Proposition: Make two or three sticky threads in Gamethought.

I was thinking Now Playing, Game Arrangement (steam, XBL), NPD's and News... something along those lines. We can contain conversation about the things we always talk about while allowing other, more topical, threads to stick around for more than one or two replies before falling out of focus.

I know we all love change here, but let's make it so!

I think the game arrangement thread should be separated into 360 and PC. When enough people get a PS3 we can add one of those as well.

can't we just put our "now playing" list as our sig? It would be a much easier way to see what everyone is playing and easier to see when someone has updated it.

If it really became crowded, maybe. We should just stick with one to start out. It'd be less than ten of us talking about meet-up times or post-game whatevers for Gears or L4D.

I don't mean to say it's a thread for posting "I AM NOW PLAYING OBLIVION", but for ongoing talk about whatever it is you're playing. This way, like I mentioned before, more topical posts won't fall off so quickly after one sarcastic reply, one "meh" reply, and then be forgotten entirely.

I'd also like to do a Game Club sort-of dealie. Like 1upFM's backlog segment, we'd all find an older, common game to play through and talk about. It would have to be a game easy to obtain or one that everybody already owns. We could all put forth submissions, vote on them, then everybody plays the game for a week or whatever.

I just bought Oblivion and Shadow of the Colossus. Either of those would be good choices.

I could play Shadow of the Collossus, I own that, and there's PLENTY to discuss in that.

I vote it.

I don't get the reasoning or payoff. As it stands, post cycle and play out pretty well as is. NPD is a monthly thing, "News" is the very definition of a topical post, "Now Playing" is something either for a new post/review or your sig and "game arrangements" seem like it should either be a schedualed weekly/monthly thing or via your PSN/XBL interface (via the already stickied gamertag thread).

As for some of the other ideas, I don't think they are bad...just something you can kinda handle on your own. If there is interest in making a thread and discussing SotC, do it - it'll stay up on it's own until the topic fizzles out, no?

I dunno, that's just how I am seeing it. I don't get the need or payoff. Someone feel free to explain further if I am missing the point.

I have to agree with Kali. I like the ideas but don't see the need for them to be stickied. I think Blotus has this forum confused with one that is very active :P There isn't enough posting going on around here for stickies to be needed for threads that would require constant posting to anyway.

The schedule thing maybe... but only the final agreed schedule, discussion of what to schedule would be in a normal thread.

My bud has been going through it and I've pretty much watched most of the main story (he did all of the guilds first). He's near the end now, probably about 5-6 hours to go. Then we'll probably get to the Shivering Isles expansion that came with the GotY edition
