I know some of us mentioned the other week that Steam dropped the price of L4D by 50% (to $25) for a weekend, well apparently it was an experiment by Valve about the price of games.

Well... that weekend resulted in a 3000% spike in sales, beating the launch week of the game.

I'm sure Zeus will love news like this ;) But it's no secret that games are a bit on the expensive side.

When I had my store, I discovered that $30 ($20 USD) was the "sweet spot" for game pricing just like the $200 USD ($250 Cdn) is for hardware. I musta sold over 20 copies of Breath of Fire 3 when it dropped to that price.

I've been arguing for years that companies need to look at the market for the games they're releasing when preparing a budget and understand that you can't charge $50 USD ($60 Cdn) for everything. Some companies get it but most don't.

Too bad I can't get Braid at that price....

EDIT: Noby Noby Boy is only $5? Wow, very nice. I'd get that in a heartbeat....if I had a PS3.

At least I'll finally be able to play Braid without getting goosed. I'm being forced into piracy by the 'Shaft

Microsoft is forcing you to pirate the game by making it available on PC? How so? This is also through Impulse, which while a good alternative to Steam, isn't easily pirated. Just like Steam it checks before letting you launch it.

By charging the premium. Since I can't download the $10 version this week (I ain't Gold), I'll just grab the downloadable version once it's available

so be a little less cheap than usual and use one of your 20 million 48 hour cards to buy it and play some gears or some shit with poeple for a couple days.

The 48 hour cards aren't Gold memberships, they just allow you to play online

But my 1-month ones for GTA4 are Gold memberships, I forgot about that. Well, if we get a game going this weekend, I'll buy Braid as well. Thanks for the reminder.
