Things to exchange for currency

Alien Hominid is now a simple 400 microsoft points. I think I've got that in Canadian Tire money, that must mean you high rollers with your fancy cars and your procreated miscreants and your Arby's and your wasted ability to subscribe to twitter and follow me.... you MUST be able to afford it and play with me. Otherwise, I sincerely believe, that you have probably wasted your life.

I'd love to Alien Hominid with you. Just come by and we'll pop my GC version into the Wii and have a blast.

I've been waiting to get Okami for $20 for the Wii (it's $10 or so used for the PS2 right now).

Honestly, those 400 points would not be worth the pain I would feel playing that game. The game is sadistic.

That's when you know developers are feeling themselves a bit too much.

"We just wanted to be wacky, so we raised the price to twice what it ought to be!" Cue hijinks, hilarity ensues.

Tomb Raider Anniversary on sale at 75% off, now for $5 on steam. I enjoyed legend and wouldn't mind playing his remake of the original.

Steam still wants your money. All the games by "Strategy First" (whomever they are) are 50% off. Darkstar One is a pretty fun game, and now it's only 5 dollary-doos. LINK!

I'm a little late of this one, but the first episode of the Penny Arcade game is on sale for half price on XBLA. It was very pricey when it came out, and now it is half of pricey now.

Although this thread is entitled about things you may exchange currency for, this next item is on the FREE! Do you have a PS3? Do you know someone with a PS3? Well, follow the directions found within this Destructoid C-Blog to get Wipeout HD for free by making an Austrian (in Europe, not to be confused with Oceania's Australia where Andrew and Fea live) PSN account between March 16th and April 18th. This means you should do this right now. Make sure to give them a valid email address where they can send you the code. That is all.

Also, even if you don't have a PS3, you can probably still enjoy the wonderful broken english delivered via the google translator on this site.

Purchasing Peggle and Peggle Nights on steam will get you them for 50% off. $10 for both, that's not bad if you're into that sort of thing.

Oh yeah. But I'm a gold member right now. I tried out 2 of my GTA 4 1 month memberships to see if they stack (they do) so I'm good until June. I have 9 more so I'll be OK throughout 2009.

Dawn of War 2 25% off on steam, plus a singleplayer demo is out as well. That's $37.49 of your american dollars for this game. Play the demo, ask shrin and tessian about it..... but I'll tell you that the singleplayer is pretty cool and can be played coop with a pal.

That reminds me-- you totally ditched me on the single player campaign! Did you ever even finish it? Luckily Shrin and I started our own campaign on a harder difficulty and beat it so I still got the achievements.

This is a game I know I should be playing more but I don't...

it might be a good investment to pick one of these up. I would imagine the resale value on a NIB dreamcast would be very good in the next 10 years or so.

Stop what you are doing right now.

Now look into your collection of videogames, either physical or on steam. Do you have Team Fortress 2? Do you have Portal? Do you have Halflife 2? Do you have the two episodic sequels to Halflife 2? If you answered no to any of these questions, you should probably go and buy the orange box on steam RIGHT NOW for $10. You can then give away any of the games that you already own to someone less fortunate so they may play it.

HAWX is 40% off on steam, down to $30. It's a great game, but I'd recommend you get it for 360 so you can discover your inner ace with your old pal bovine. L4D is also down 40% to $24 and if you don't have it yet, you should probably pick it up. They've been doing all kinds of weird things with the price. It's still a solid game and best played on the PC, although it's nice to know that they are equally supporting the 360 version this time around.

this is the first that I have heard of you liking this game. I think that you like it so much you should make a thread out of it. Then, after you make that thread, you should post in other threads about how much you like it. That is what you should do.
Also, go buy deadspace.

Universe at War is this weekend's steam game on sale. It's down to $5 from $20.

I always buy strategy games when they drop in price, and this one will be no exception. Anyone else going to get it and beat me at it?

I played Universe at War... was like the last game I ever "downloaded". It was decent with an interesting story but I don't know if I'd buy it... although for $5 can I really say no?

Defense Grid: The Awakening is $5 this week too... I always loved the Tower Defense games in WC3, maybe it's good too? PCGamer seemed to think so. It's a strategy game too, Bovine ;)

Defense Grid is a lot of fun, actually... I can't stop playing it or thinking of strategies for it. I'll be sad when I beat all the levels but they've got challenge modes and such so hopefully it'll have decent replay value. Fantastic value for $5

ragdoll kung fu is free (in the US store), and Bionic Commando: Rearmed is 1/2 price at $5 on the PSN this week

EDIT

Also, the first set of strongbad games, and two seasons of sam and max are on sale for 1/2 price on steam for 5 days

Anyone looking for a great retro game and owns a PS3, get Bionic Commando (looks in Kup's direction). It's an excellent and extremely faithful remake (to a fault) and is ton of fun to play co-op.

What the heck is Ragdoll Kung Fu? I assume it's on PSN. And anyone know if the Sam and Max Season 2 is coming out for Wii? Didn't seem that Telltale was too keen on it but one can hope

The weekend deal on steam is Call of Duty: World at War down 50% to $25. It has that mode with zombie nazis, if that appeals to you.

Also, apparently the first guild wars is down to $20 if you want a mostly MMO that doesn't come with those messy monthly fees. It's not a bad price if you were looking for an excuse to try out the series. I have an account, and would totally reinstall if anyone got this and wanted a little bovine companionship.

I have Guild Wars as well, it's fun but not really a true MMO. All areas are instanced except the common areas like towns, etc. Its pretty fun though.

$20 for Guild Wars?

I may be in. It's one of the least demanding but still fun MMOs in terms of time commitment vs. fun factor, I heard, is that right?

PostPosted:Fri May 15, 2009 3:09 pm

Guild Wars seems more like Diablo 2 Online as opposed to your traditional MMORPG. I suspect since they don't charge a monthly fee, there's no reason to artificially slow you down as much compared to a normal MMORPG.

Christmas came early. Bionic commando is 1/2 price on XBLA starting today. I shamefully bought it for the PS3 when it was on sale there first, but at least it lets me confirm that it is a good game.
