The combat looks much more ATB then that of FFXII, I felt like falling alseep for most of FFXII's battles. -_- In both the actual action and the battle itself, so it looks like there's more to it then just flashy auto attacks.

The world definitely looks FFVII inspired from what little they've shown. Midgar 2.0

Char design is pretty nifty, though the black guy with the fro that has the baby chocobo living in it reminds me of JJ from Good Times.

The gameplay is really hard to describe, "Real-Time ATB" is the best way I can describe it. Select an attack, then during attack you can add on more. IE Attack->combo attackx1->x2, Attack->Combo->Fire Spell, Attack-Knock-up->Air attack->Fire Spell.

All black guys must have fros. I guess they don't see too many black guys in Japan, so they stereotype.

Sine, I hate to break it to you, but a lot of black people DO have fros, especially if they don't perm the living shit out of their hair the way a lot of African-Americans do in the U.S. to fit into mostly white-culture-defined stereotypes. Most black hair, left to its own devices, will grow into a rather magnificent fro, at least as far as I'm aware. It takes a lot of money to get Beyonce's hair to grow into that long flowing white-girl hairstyle with the tints and the blond highlights.

That being said, no, Japan does not have a wonderful tradition of racial tolerance and understanding. :P I saw a list someone had compiled of translations of all the racial slurs they could find in anime so far, and that shit was pretty telling. I think my favorite was "Dirty Uncle Rasta".

So, FINAL FANTASY XIII (god damn derail in the first reply?) looks really cool.

I know I remain skeptical and all that, but chances are I'll be fucking buying this opening day.
