So I have played through the tutorial and the first couple of missions of the game and I have to say that so far I am very impressed. You play with the wiimote and nunchuck, and so far I am just using the default control scheme which is working perfectly for me. The B trigger is to fire, while A is to jump. You press the - button to reload, right on the Dpad to switch guns, and down on the Dpad to scope in or out. A melee attack can be done by simply thrusting the Wiimote forward.

As far as the nunchuck goes you shake it to throw grenades. You can be very precice cause it will throw it exactly where you are aiming with the wiimote. The C button on the nunchuck is used to crouch.

As would be expected aiming and turning is handled with the wiimote, while you use the analog stick to go forward and back and strafe. You can adjust EVERYTHING, from the wiimote dead zone, to the sensitivy of the curser, how quick you turn around, and even adjust the indicators on the hud wherever you want them. I haven't played around with it too much but everyone should be able to tweek it to find a control setting that is perfect for them

I am playing on easy difficulty right now so I cant say too much about how hard the game is yet, but it has defidently been a fun ride. Graphics are very nice for a game on the Wii (just cause I dont care too much about em doesnt mean I dont notice them) And the voicework so far has been solid, nobody thats voice is so annoying that I just want to put them on mute. Music and SFX are great as well

Anyone else playing this yet? The Wi-Fi multiplayer supports the WiiSpeak mic, so hopefully we can get some good game going.

Wow did nobody else here pick this up? I have been wanting to play some multiplayer with folks and was figuring at least a few of you would get it.

MY friend played it, and from the sounds of it, it's pretty meh. Wonky controls, frustrating difficulty, and it is a silly premise.

Interesting, I thought the controls were very good, never found it particularly hard, and could care less about the single player premise as its mainly a multiplayer game.

Honestly, I'm sick of FPSs and only touch the very special ones. Even Halo: ODST I don't care about

I am not usually a big FPS fan either, but I wanted to check this out just to see how well they got the Wii controls down, and I felt they nailed it, adn that if there wasnt something you liked, you can adjust EVERYTHING.

That's why I have the Metroid Prime Trilogy :-)

I have that as well but I have always considered the Metroid Prime games more to be first person platformers. They incorporate some aspects of a first person shooter, but they arent quite the same.

I agree. I call them first-person adventure games myself. I really have to get back to #3. I adored the first two so much and I never finished the trilogy.

I only played about a few hours of 3, but I really wonder about the conversion to Wii.

I tried to get my dad to play it (he owns the Wii now), but he was used to the controls for RE4, where the stick both turned and moved forward. I tried to tell him that most FPSs for consoles use that forward/strafe control scheme, but he just had a hard time with it.

I played it for a while, but I had difficulty for different reasons. Yeah, I could get past the bosses and stuff because I was better at the controls, but there was something about the level of interaction that bothered me. It's like the console was encouraging you NOT to play for more than a few hours, because it got tiring to play, and I couldn't even sit in the couch to do it, since the sensor doesn't go that far. I didn't want to yank on the stick every time I wanted to pull armor off of an enemy.

Not to mention that the controls just didn't feel as "natural" as the first two. I don't really know how to elaborate without playing it again.

For the hour or so I played the original release, I found that after you changed the sensitivity, it was fine. The default settings were way too sluggish and required far too much arm movement but if you changed the sensitivity, you could literally rest your arm on against your body and just move that way. Then again, I haven't played it for hours at a time pulling armour off of guys, so I can't relate yet.

Sensor doesn't go that "far"? How far are you talking about? I'm about 8ft or so and have never had any issues.

They're as "natural" as you're gonna get for FPS controls on the Wii. I found them relatively intuitive for the systems' control setup. Did you changed the sensitivity? It really does help a lot.
