Only 1 non-bundled PS3 game published by Sony has sold over 1 million copies in the US: the first one

I didn't realize it was THAT bad for sales.

Of course, that doesn't include MGS4, but still.

Of course not, but that may be the only third-party game to hit the 1 million sales mark.

The PS3 is starting to be like the PSP right now. People just ain't buyin' it for the games.

People ain't buyin' it because it's still really, really expensive and so are the games and this is a bad recession. I would have loved to have bought a PS3 and MGS4 when they came out, but I don't have several hundred dollars to blow on something that's *just* entertainment.

The 360 allows me to create my own games for it and try to sell them in an online marketplace if I want, and encourages me to learn to develop gaming-related job skills in the process. The PS3 doesn't. I think that people who want entertainment are often going for a cheaper option (like the Wii) and the hardcore gamers are enjoying the fact that the 360 is so much friendlier to "traditional" gamer archetypes as well as the fan community and developers.

Really, I kind of agree with Penny Arcade - if Sony's idea of a revolutionary connectivity technology is to add IRC to the PSN, several years after the 360 had full and spontaneous video chat and multiple-party audio, they are focused on the wrong things to be looking towards the future with..

Just to refute one point there Mental-- it's been consistently proven, and holds true today, that entertainment industries continue to grow in a recession. Video games and movies are a great method of escapism especially when shit isn't going well so games sales aren't dropping; they're rising if anything. So you really can't blame Sony's lack of success on the economy... their failures are mostly of their own doing. The bomb that was HOME and the SIX-AXIS are proof enough that Sony can't deliver on their promises and consumers have noticed.

Sony fails as a company in general. Between root-kits, cramming proprietary formats that ultimately fail, and creating the most expensive console nobody has, Sony should just be avoided all together.

About as bad as Motorola, but at least Sony creates something great once in a while.
