Amazon.com reviews? I would wait for a reputable source before listening to amazon.

Though if this game does turn out to suck, I would be highly disappointed as I have really enjoyed the remakes of 4 and 5 so far and have been looking forward to this one. It seems to be that they are complaining mostly about differences in the game when compared to the rest of the series though; someone mentioned that these are the same people who slam anime/manga when a girl in it that they like gets a boyfriend because she is no longer "pure".

"Yes, the "Gal" character is very annoying...especially the way she talks. In Japanese, there is something called "Gal-Go" (Gal language)...which could be equated to something like a Japanese "valley girl" kind of langauge."

I guess this crowd was not the type to purchase FFX-2, then.

We'll see what they do with her here.

Saleswise it is off to a good start; VGchartz has it around 2.2 million on the low estimate; which would tie it for second highest day 1 sales with DQ8; and at the high end 2.5 million which would put it in a solid #2 spot... If you are wondering, FF8 is reigning #1.

Sales number don't really mean much since the size of the video game market is most likely a function of the population of the world, which is constantly increasing. Obviously the more people you have with a game system, the more likely it is to sell a lot of games. DS's base is as big as any system so it's not like we're talking about great sales on a limited platform. With a series that's almost like a license to print money, even if DQ9 totally sucked you'd only see the effect on the next game, because this round people will still buy it on reputation no matter how bad it really is.

Well I mean, DQIX sells regardless, 2.2 million sales on day 1 aren't surprising.

What is surprising is if the Japanese actually didn't like the game, which is more what I'm interested in.
