  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Well, in recent weeks I have played through four more chapters. I'll write a bit about each without spoiling much. I'm loving this episodic treatment the series has received. I also like that I can use the first time I played the game as a point of reference for how much time has passed in the FF4 universe, since they're both 18 years.

Anyway:

Edge's chapter was first: essentially 18 years has only slightly reduced Edge's thirst for combat. This time though, he has four other Elbanese characters with him. The story revolves around the ressurection of the Tower of Babil, and the quest between these five characters in discovering the reason why. This story takes the player all throughout the world; from Elban, to Troia, to the Dwarf Kingdom, to Mysidia, and other places. Overall, this quest seemed to have more fighting than others, more so than the following three at least. It was fun for the most part.

Porom's Quest: Very story driven. This one takes place over a long period of time, beginning when she was a child and working up to some present day adventures. Over the course of the quest many characters are met; Palom (obviously), Rydia, Cid, Kain, and Luca play fairly important roles. This was a fairly good one.

Edward's tale - introduces a new female character, Harley. Kind of an Emma Skye type character - she wants to investigate everything. This tale focussed around a strange meteorite which fell in the Damcyan region (and that has been involved in other chapters including Yang's and Edge's). Damcyan is home to the Fire Crystal and the center of commerice being located between Elban, Baron, and Fabul territory. This was my favourite chapter.

The Lunarians - I can't say much without spoiling much. Just that the main character will begin in the chamber where the Lunarians sleep; a location beyond where Zeromus was fought. Finally you get to see what is up those stairs. This story takes place before the others in present time, and explores a lot of strange and major events that occurred in other chapters which didn't have an answer. This chapter is HARD. It is also very very good for fans of the overall FF4 story. Without really giving away anything (since there's not really anything to give away); the main character of this quest is a Badass Lunarian that would make Jessiah from Xenogears, Samuel L Jackson, and Chuck Norris cry.

So, all in all, this world's universe is now richer than ever; as all the politics between locations, and the history, the cultures, ceremonies and everything are very well fleshed out. I would probably call Palom's chapter my favourite overall - his character was my favourite. I am not sure what the final chapter will add, but there's no chapter in the series that I haven't felt was more than worth the 3 bucks. The game so far is roughly double FF4 in length; the oriinal version rather than the new DS version which takes considerably longer to get through (It's still about 30% longer than the DS version though). I am very happy I played through this one.

I am really enjoying playing the game but I have kinda fallen away from it just cause I have so many other games I have been playing, and WoW eats a lot of my time. But yeah what I have played so far has just been incredible

Luckily they're not going anywhere. For me these games have been takin priority over everything else on Sunday mornings =P

I should note, my time descriptions do not include the side quests that can be played after each chapte completion.
