So far I have picked up Disgaea 3, Cross Edge, Valkaria Chronicles, and the collectors editions of SvR 08 and 09. Considering I am mostly a RPG/platformer fan any recomendations? I already have Katamari on reserve, and plan to pick up Little Big Planet when I can afford it.

I have to say if you get a chance of getting away from the RPGs pick up MGS4.

Valkaria Chronicles is epic.

If I get a PS3, Valkyria Chronicles and Disgaea 3 are the two I would get. MGS4 maybe but I haven't really liked the series to date; not my style.

In the future I'd get EA's upcoming MMA title featuring Fedor and Randy Couture, FF13, and FF vs 13.

I am going to get FFXIII for 360. I pretty much have the PS3 just for titles that are exclusive to the console.

The PS3 is little more than a MGS4 adapter right now. If you played the original 3 it's a must-play

not really a fan of the series actually. They just never really drew my attention. My big one on the horizion right now is the new Katamari game.

I was actually going to get FFXIII for the PS3 just so I didn't have to swap discs. :) It's not a huge deal, but I figure that if I have the option, then I might as well take the lazy approach. haha

My thought process is kinda that I already spent time building my profile on the 360, so I may as well let dual platform titles build that profile, rather than have a 2nd

Can you stop repeating this? Or, at least recognize that while it applies to you, it might not apply to others? Several people have listed games for the PS3 they want to play.

As big of a 360 fan as I am, I have to say that the PS3 has basically caught up in terms of content and offerings. I will still choose most stuff on the 360 since I prefer the controller and I want my achievements, but there are many reasons to own a PS3. Heck, I just bought Batman on the PS3 instead.

I think the PS3 was a terrible console to own the first couple years. It was overpriced, there weren't many games, and the online was crappy. But now it's $300, there are a bunch of good exclusives, it's getting a lot of multi-platformers, and the online is worlds better than before.

Bunch of good games, yes, but majority are cross-platform. Other than LBP and MGS4, what other exclusives are must-haves? Sure, these are two of the best games of the generation but do they really match up to the 360's exclusives?

Resistance 1 I got and it's a mediocre FPS so I'm not overly excited about #2. Killzone 2 I have not tried but it's yet ANOTHER FPS. I'm sick of them on all systems and other than CoD 6, I'm not in the market for any other ones for a bit (no, not even Halo: ODST). Uncharted is a great rental but not a purchase although at $20 ($30 Cdn), it's not insanely expensive anymore. Valkyria I keep hearing is an excellent RPG and I have actually been looking for it but it's still a bit pricey. Disgaea 3 is pretty good for fans of the series as well. Ratchet and Clank is supposed to be very good and now that it's GH, it's a cheap pick-up as well.

Of course, PS3 has many of the same cross-platform titles as the PS3 so you're getting many of the great games on both systems. But I personally don't think the PS3 has yet approached the exclusives that the 360 has, particularly when you look at GoW2 and L4D (among others). Now that there are so many cross-platform titles and Sony has finally dropped the price to reasonability, it's certainly worthy of the purchase and there are a ton of titles to choose from now. And the free online helps for sure. But its exclusive library doesn't yet touch the 360's.

Yeah, I love those games too although I have yet to play my Beautiful Katamari which I just got (damned thing was hard to find). I'm curious if they're relegated it to very niche status after making them full-priced games as opposed to the original's budget price, which is what made that series in North America and helped it sell quite a number of copies.

Oh, have you tried Noby Noby Boy yet? I keep forgetting to grab this one and it's made by the Katamari guy.

This was already covered in another thread two weeks ago. If the PS3 is just an MSG4 adapter for you, then great. All I'm saying is for some people, it's not.

The notion that PS3 is a MGS4 adaptor can be easily dispelled by comparing the sales of MGS4 compared to PS3. Did MGS4 even sold a million copies? It's the same thing as saying FF7 drove PS1 sales. You cannot sell more than 1 system per copy of game sold, and FF7 sold something like 3 million, so it cannot be responsible for more than 3 millino system sells. Now that's a lot but it's not enough to do it by itself.

Of course I suppose people want to say MGS4 is so great, some people bought a PS3 for the sole reason that the game even exists, without buying the said game.

Edit: Did some quick looking up and although this stuff is really out of date, the first numbers I found was 4.3 million copies for MGS4 and 20 million PS3s worldwide.

So it's still barely 20% of all PS3s sales if one assume every person who bought a MGS4 also bought a PS3 solely for MGS4.

Dear M'k'n'zy,

How are you doing? Well? If so, then I am certainly pleased. If not, then I am sorry. To get to the point I would just like to say that you are not on my ps3 friends list. If you could get around to changing that you will find all the appropriate information that you need in the sticky supplied in gamethought.

Dear Bovine,

That would be because at this point in time my PS3 is not connected to the internet, and I do not have the spare port on my hub to connect it. Once this situation is corrected, I will defidently add you to my friends list.

It drove system sales but only a blip back last June for a month here and I think it did it for a week or to in Japan, but I'd have to check. I do know a couple of people that finally broke down and got one when MGS4 came out but the numbers seem to indicate that the majority who bought it already had a PS3.

Kup, I'm only arguing about the exclusives vs the 360. There are a ton of cross-platform titles that are great. My involvement in this argument is to determine what else people see as a reason to get one not to stand up and grandstand. I named off the titles I could think of and saw Mac's list, but I'm curious what other reasons people see as a reason to want a PS3 since so many people I know have their systems sit if they have the 360 unless they decide to buy a cross-platform on it for some reason (like Arkham Asylum, which I will eventually get for it as well). Maybe I'm missing out on something? I've hardly turned mine on in the last 4 months or so, maybe someone can remind of or point out a good game for me to play on it?
